Electricity and water do not mix

I'm tempted to try to quip something about faith-based physics, but this just seems somewhat tragic, although Darwinistic, to me. I'm really curious about the woman who was about to be baptized, though. If the Lord takes the preacher as he's about to baptize you, is he sending you a signal to convert to Buddhism or the Church of the Subgenius?

quoting:

...University Baptist Church whose popular pastor was electrocuted before their eyes Sunday morning as he waded waist-deep into a tank of water to baptize a new member.

As Lake stood in the baptistery during the morning worship service, he reportedly reached for a microphone, which shocked him. He was declared dead later at a hospital. The woman who was about to be baptized was uninjured.

2. Why? You would have gone straight to heaven
When I was baptized, four men carried me into the baptismal pool. (I can't walk and this was in a huge church.)

Talk about a cluster-fu*k.

5. If He's A Believer It's Not A Punishment

6. Punishment? You are wanting cause and effect, when there is
just physics and randomness. You'd not think about a microphone carrying enough amperage to kill you, but it probably is plugged into a hefty PA amp, and some helpful person who knows just enough electronics to be really dangerous probably cut the ground wire at some point to get rid of that 60 cycle hum that so many of these things pick up after a few years.

7. Simply applying the same critique that fundies did to NOLA
I don't believe it, just carrying their abuse of religion to a next step. They seem that bad things happen because God hates sin, therefore, what was this guys sin. As a new testatment believer, I reject that old testament judaic view of sin.

8. Yeah, that's the interesting part of it all, what do fundies make of
acts like that? They'd probably think that this particular church wasn't fundamental enough, so the Good Lord done called that preacher on home.

9. The lesson here is: Jesus did not use a microphone.
Also Jesus was soft-spoken and did not require his voice booming out over a sound system in order to announce a baptism to the audience. The scene speaks for itself.

Other than that, what a horrid way to die. The preacher deserved better.
