CLINTON SPEAKS BEAUTIFULLY AT ROSA PARK'S FUNERAL... |
|
Bill Clinton was received with nearly universal love by the crowd of mourners at Mrs. Park's funeral today. As usual, he showed himself to be a "man of the people," once again appearing to be "the first black President" of the USA as he was dubbed during his last term in DC.
Why, President Clinton, with all of this love and acceptance from the people in your own party, do you feel that you have to slap us in the face with this constant adulation and ace-boon-cooning friendship with Bush Senior? Aren't there any old Democrats that could fit that father role you are apparently trying to fill?
Anytime Clinton feels the need to feel good inside about himself, all he needs to do is to go around a group of African Americans.

3. OK. I cried. His eulogy was extremely moving. |
|
And I'm glad President Clinton can be big-hearted to everyone, not just liberals.

4. I read that his grandparents ran a grocery store when he was a child and |
|
they insisted on serving black people despite the segregation of the time....He apparently grew up just naturally accepting all people as equals...I think that is why he fits so naturally among them.....His speech was lovely....I had tears....Rosa Parks must have been a wonderful person....:loveya:

9. Yes they did...and what's more |
|
Clinton once said how if someone came into the grocery store and didn't have any money, his grandfather just "made a note of it" and allowed them to make their purchase.
And he says he "made a note of it" too....meaning he learned a valuable lesson is helping lift up the least among us.
Here's one other story I love about Clinton. Shortly before his first inauguration, he was asked if there was any issue on which he would NOT compromise. He said "Race."
Love that man!

6. Did anyone else catch this? |
|
He was introduced this way: "Ladies and Gentlemen - the PRESIDENT of the United States, William Jefferson Clinton." The word 'president' sounded emphasized. Was this subtly intentional?

7. I don't think it was subtle, I think it was most definitely intentional.. |
|
As I stated in the OP, Bill Clinton is well-loved among African Americans, despite some of his short-comings. Probably more than anything, he carries with him a distinct knowledge and experience of what it was like to bee poor and ill-treated by those who considered themselves superior.
I am still upset with his closeness to Bush Seniro. That seals the DLC relationship between the Republicans and Democrats for me.

8. Maybe he feels someone should do it. |
|
May as well be him. Isn't there a gentlemen's code that former presidents should get along? Bill Clinton is the REAL "uniter not a divider." It seaks volumes that Clinton and Poppy can be friends, but Dubya has no Dem friends. (Well maybe Zell.)

10. I liked how President Clinton said... |
|
That after Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat, he and his friends wanted to do something. But obviously they weren't old enough to vote then, and really didn't know what to do.
So they decided to sit at the BACK of the bus.
Clinton and his friends sat at the back of the bus as a tribute to her!
