1. Excellent post!!!!!
And again, Bushie had an 'out' on this one, and didn't take it. Had he asked her to stay for another year (assuming she would not refuse the call of her country via its pResident) he could have avoided this entire issue for twelve months. This would have staved off the ensuring battle over another nominee at a time when he's at his weakest. He wouldn't have to contend with the far right and their rantings, nor the middle-of-the-roaders -- i.e. he's going to piss off people in his own party, no matter what he does.

This also would have pushed the issue to AFTER the mid-terms next year, instead of BEFORE. And God knows he's got enough to contend with these days, without adding another battle to his agenda.

Don't get me wrong -- I'm not trying to come up with any ideas to save the wimp's ass -- I'm just pointing out the fact that yet again, this Admin and its advisors are not as smart as we've all been told they are.

Thank God for small favours!
