Tucker Carlson's Bald-faced LIE About Dennis Kucinich |
|
Dennis Kucinich is making an official announcment tour, making speeches in several cities to formally announce his candidacy for the presidency. Carlson was talking about what DK said in his Cleveland speech as film was shown.
According to Carlson,
". . . He went on to call for a complete withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq, returning the country to the control of Saddam Hussein, as well as reparations for slavery. Though Kucinich's views are well within the Democratic mainstream, it is not at all clear at this point that he will in fact be his party's nominee. . ."
Now I know, and I believe most of you know, that DK has no intention of taking U.S. troops out of Iraq until UN peacekeepers are in place, much less "returning the country to the control of Saddam Hussein."
Please join me in writing to CNN about this outrageous distortion of the truth and mocking of a Democratic Congressman and presidential candidate.
Not satisfied with merely lying, Carlson went on to say this:
"Dennis Kucinich, as a vegan, is the perfect distillation of the Democratic ideal."
I think what people eat, or don't eat, is a personal choice and not open to discussion unless they try to force it upon others, which DK does not. And of course the bow-tied twerp was trying to suggest that vegans are wimps and therefore Democrats are wimps.
Carlson also said Jesse Jackson has been an embarrassing parasite for years.

1. It's all in the interpretation. |
|
Edited on Mon Oct-13-03 04:24 PM by boxster
In one of the debates, Kucinich was asked if he supported the $87 billion. Part of his response:
I say bring the troops home unequivocally. Bring them home and stop this commitment for $87 billion, which is only going to get us in deeper. Bring them home.
That could certainly be interpreted to mean he'd bring them home, period. Of course, he has since elaborated on this point, but taken out of context, it sure sounds like that is his intention.
And, as we all know, the Republican way is to take part of a statement and bash you over the head with it.
Edit: Kucinich's full answer (from issues2000.org):
KUCINICH: The message is no I will not vote for the $87 billion. We should support the troops and I think we best support them by bringing them home. Our troops are at peril there, because of this administration's policy.
We were each provided with a security document that advised "don't cut and run," commit up to 150,000 troops for five years at a cost of up to $245 billion. A matter of fact, General Clark was one of the authors of that document that was released in July.
I led the effort in the House of Representatives challenging the Bush administration's march toward war. I say bring the troops home unequivocally. Bring them home and stop this commitment for $87 billion, which is only going to get us in deeper. Bring them home.

2. I seriously hate that guy. |
|
Many people, even if they don't share my views of anything at all, I can tolerate. I'm pretty adaptable in that way, I can have a beer with anyone, go to anyones parties etc...Im pretty adaptable that way, and Im very proud of it.
BUT
If I saw Tucker Carlson walking down the street in Washington DC, then you guys would have something to post in the "Late Breaking News" section to the tune of something like "Tucker Carlson leaves country in fear of getting brutalized by Washington DC man again" or "Crowd Cheers as Tucker Carlson is made to eat his own bowtie".

8. They lie because they think people like the RW view -- they think |
|
that because RWers wrote letters to the media for decades, convincing them that there are more RWers than there are. If we want parity, we need to strike back with our own letter-writing campaigns.
Or do you suggest we just give up and become good Germans?

4. Tucker Carlson is a waste of time |
|
I happened to see the first part of the show today where he said what you posted. I usually don't watch the show when Begala is on, but watched the first few minutes today before turning the channel.
Carlson went on to make a comment in the opening segment that "Jessie Jackson has been an embarrassing parasite for years." An "embarrassing parasite"? What? I just thought to myself, who is Tucker Carlson to say this? He hasn't even done 1/100th of what Jessie Jackson has done. Carlson is just a waste of air time.
And, like I mentioned earlier, I can't stand Begala. I turned the channel right after the opening segment. I sure didn't hear Begala defending Kucinich at all. I still remember Begala using his Crossfire position and platform to rip on fellow dem Cynthia McKinney.
They say "... and from the left, we have Paul Begala." What exactly makes Begala "to the left"? He's at best a Repub lite that calls himself a dem and masquerades as "the left." He's a bigger joke than Carlson.
The whole show is just a joke.
Corporate America won't give a true left person a regular position.

11. You're right. I only watched because "Father Guido" was on. |
|
I tuned in at the end of the previous news segment and saw the promo for "Fr. Guido." I was glad to see the coverage of Kucinich until the little bow-tied twerp started talking such nonsensical crap.
I gave up watching Crossfire months ago and haven't missed it. Novak and Carlson are both slimeballs, Begala does a poor job of defending the left (Is he the new Colmes, perhaps?) and Carville only occasionally gets in a good jab.

assuredly be writing a letter about all of those comments once I settle down. This is a travesty, a complete lie and he should be made to pay for it. However, at this moment I am incapable of saying much at all. You can be sure he will get a letter from me as well.

6. Thank you. I don't know that it will do any good but I think they |
|
need to get some letters. I haven't been watching Crossfire and one reason is the little bow-tied twerp's snide comments about DK.

17. You'd be suprised what a few letters can do! |
|
In Minnesota, we've finally got the media here to pay attention to Kucinich, mainly through bombarding the news outlets with emails, letters and phone calls. Now is a good time especially, heading into the fall sweeps period, to raise some heck with them.
