How did the chimp`s poll numbers go up? |
|
That is what CNN lead off their program with at 4:00. They said chimp boy was up to 56%. A 5 point gain that should lift his spirits. What B.S. Nothin but a bunch of boot lickers at CNN.

1. They only polled GOPers making 6 figures? |
|
That or people just have NOT been paying attention during the last couple of weeks of the Calyforneeah debacle.

Lets not get too caught up in poll numbers. A lot is going to happen between now and Nov 2004.

Enough said. Newsweek released a poll this weekend and Bush was down to 51%. Gallup is unreliable. ie, during the 2000 election one day Gore was up 15% the next day Bush was up 15%.

Then there's the one that shows the Dem candidates gaining on him. Go figure.

5. Simple. They changed the group they were polling |

It appears that upper income people were the focus of this poll.

seriously. a point here or a point there. 56% could be as high as 60% or as low as 52%. more freepers in the sample, thats all. he's just as barely on the level as ever. maybe if he hits 60 there is something worth noting

7. Post-Ahnuld bump. That's all. Testosterone rush from seeing muscles win. |

It's schadenfreude from seeing CA gov. Davis go down to the Gropinator. Rich men saw this and thought "Great! It still is a rich stupid violent white man's world, think I'll stick with the chimp."

8. This could be an aberration |
|
we'll have to wait if any other polls are similar. I honestly think this is largely the result of all the focus on the recall, which took the heat off Bush for a whole week. But this same poll shows only 38 percent will definitely vote for Bush in 2004 and 38 percent will definitely vote against him. That means this poll didn't help Bush's reelect numbers, and that's what ultimately matters.

9. Pure and simple reason |

No news is good news...
There was too much focus on the Recall and other issues - now the press can focus back on the Administration's pure incompetence.

10. Because Republican presidents always have to be "popular" |
|
Just like Reagan. For eight years, I had to listen to all the news media telling me that he was "the most popular president of the post-war era," and I kept thinking, "Where are all these people who like him?"
Then, once Reagan was safely out of office, the New York Times published an article in which they admitted that he had NEVER been the "most popular" president and that, in fact, Jimmy Carter had had higher average ratings.
So I haven't trusted statements about Bush's "popularity" at all.

15. Gallup * approval polls have a pattern: 2-3 polls down, 1 poll up |
|
If you look over the collection of Gallup Bush approval polls for the past couple of years, he never sinks for more than two or three polls in a row before he's shown to rise at least a few points. Check it out: http://www.pollingreport.com/BushJob.htm
