Nazi war criminal Anthony Sawoniuk dies in UK jail
7 November 2005

LONDON - The only man to have been convicted in Britain of Nazi war crimes has died in prison, aged 84, the Home Office in London said Monday. Anthony Sawoniuk, who came to Britain in the guise of a Polish patriot in 1946, was serving two life sentences after being found guilty of murdering 18 Jews in his home town of Domachevo, in Belarus, four years previously.

After more than 50 years as a free man, the former British Rail ticket collector was found guilty in 1999 at a trial at the Old Bailey Criminal Court in London, the first and only Nazi war crimes trial in Britain. He lost an appeal against his conviction in 2000. Police said Sawoniuk was believed to have died of natural causes and his death was not being treated as suspicious.

In case you missed the emoticons, that's sarcasm. How easily the right-wing talking points fit the monsters of a previous generation.

7. 18 : 6,000,000 Dead
While I am glad this man got his just due, so many guilty people faded into the woodwork after WWII. One of them was Bush's grandfather who profited in the millions from confiscated property and goods that were taken from people never heard from again as they sank into oblivion in those inhumane death camps. It seems the press does not want to acknowledge that, and while 'the sins of the fathers' should not be delivered upon their sons, it appears the apple does not fall far from the tree when it comes to greed at any cost, does it? Has any one of these lucky sperm had so much as a hiccup of conscience and given any of it back to the families who lost it all?

Not that I am making excuses for him or anything, but I never heard anything about Hitler personally killing anyone, yet he is constantly being referred to as a mass murderer, while these people like the Bushes get away without so much as a mention for everything they have created and promoted. Like Hitler, you don't have to lay a hand on anyone to be responsible for what you set into motion, especially when you are an elected leader. Like Hitler, the Bushes created an atmosphere of hate, war, religious hypocrisy, and unmitigated greed. So when are the people in this administration going to be considered responsible like Hitler was, starting with Bush???

Just something to think about...

My 2 cents

9. I think it was the whole "Final Solution" thing.
Puh-leeze. Did Hitler actually have to drop the Zyklon-B pellets himself to become fully culpable???

12. My Point Exactly
This is what I mean, there is no indication that Hitler ever personally murdered anyone or pulled any trigger, he is still considered a mass murderer, because he did preside over everything. The Project For The New American Century is our owen "Mein Kampf" (My Head) and Bush is also responsible in the same way. I am saying NOBODY holds Bush responsible just because he acts dumb and lets everyone else do his dirty work, like Hitler did, see????

10. Good. I hate the dark side of me that says that.
I truly despise them, yet have tried to forgive them. I'm still struggling with that.

It took forty years to get my dad to tell me what he saw there, and once he finally did, I wish I hadn't persuaded him. I will take that father-son talk to my grave.
