BIG UPSET: Dick Black defeated in Loudoun County VA!!
Edited on Tue Nov-08-05 09:58 PM by lanlady
Local 8 TV news is reporting from Loudoun Co that Dick Black, an 8-year incumbent known for controversial anti-abortion stunts such as mailing plastic fetuses, has gone down in defeat to 51-yr-old David Poisson.

Great work Loudoun County!!!

(edited to add info on Poisson)

70. call your congress critters and tell
them to do their jobs and get bring our troops home. According to some report I read, Hillary didn't get enough personal mail saying no to the war. So, I say, inundate them with messages everyday. I am now going to demand meetings with all these people and we just have to be the "burr under their saddle".

Long's I got that plastic fetus
Ridin' on the dashboard of my car.
You can buy Him phosphorescent
Glows in the dark, He's pink and pleasant
Take Him with you when you're travelling far

Plastic Fetus, plastic Fetus
Riding on the dashboard of my car
Through ev'ry trial and Nomination
We will travel through the nation
With my plastic Fetus I'll go far

30. Some info on this race >>
32nd District

Republican Dick Black, 61, is facing the toughest challenge from a Democrat since he was first elected to the House of Delegates in 1998.
On Nov. 8, Black will face David Poisson, 54, an attorney and consultant from Sterling.
The 32nd District covers the northeast section of Loudoun County, including Ashburn, Sugarland, Lowes Island and portions of Cascades. In last year's president election, 55 percent of the district voted for President George W. Bush (R) over U.S. Sen. John Kerry (D).

35. Poisson is speaking on TV now
Great guy, says he won because "family values" mean better education for our kids and better transportation to bring families together at the end of the work day. Amen to that!

Earlier this evening I had him confused with another, much younger fellow who was talking from the Poisson campaign HQ. Thanks jeff_dem for digging up this info.

44. Loudoun

I drive thru there everyday and work in Sterling myself. I am beyond amazed this happened. That county is RICH, not just RICH actually, but STINKING RICH.

However, a lot of those people living there are more diverse. There are more people there than your run of the mill white people...Indians (from India) who I work with are highly educated, tremendous workers, VERY intelligent and every single one I talk with are VERY Democratic. There is also a more progressive feel to East Loudoun...West Loudoun is most likely Repuke...but East Loudoun (sterling) is probably a good Dem hotbed despite the fact the streets are paved with gold there.

71. The former owner of the Redskins (and Chrysler Bldg!)
had his horse farm there.

(in Western Loudoun county.)

Sterling is strictly non-landed gentry -- computer programmers, security techs, and the like.

Get into Western Fairfax these days going towards DC and it's positively... middle class. The former segregated southern farm town of Herndon is rapidly turning into a densely populated barrio surrounded on all sides by posh ranchettes and tech farms... Kilgore won no friends there with his anti-immigrant attitude.

I've always wondered how Loudon could be red, when it has become so much more developed and populated, right at the edge of FX. I realize there are still some open, farming areas, but, this is one of the few days of my life that I am happy about development!

Hey Santorum..."you don't know me but I know where you live!" Methinks it would be a good place for an impromptu parade. Lovely gated community, massive, borderline ostentatious houses, fresh air...

let them just keep spewing nonsense. It is beginning to turn off the masses. It's starting to frighten the masses. The more they talk, the better - people are beginning to actually see them for what they are.
