Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) KICKS ASS !
Just watched her on C-Span from earlier today. It's the Senate Energy and Commerce Committees: aka sticking Oil execs feet to the fire.

She asked the BigOilInc execs:
(paraphrasing)

Did you ship any of your gas/oil products outside of the US in 2005 prior to Hurricane Katrina?

Did you sell any gas/oil products outside of the US in 2005 prior to Hurricane Katrina at a lower price than you would have gotten in the US?

In 2005, prior to Hurricane Katrina, did you divert any inbound gas/oil products before they reached US?

They all answered, more or less, "uh....I don't know, we'll get that info for you."

Then she made a great comparison to Enron and how we were told it was an issue of energy "production," only to find out later it was an issue of manipulation of supply.

Awesome!

.. we all know nothing will ever come of these hearings. And the bully 'Pukes put the ki-bosh on the swearing in thing, so those fucking thieves can and will lie their asses off.

Makes me sick. :puke:

5. True.
It's just nice to casually flip on c-span and hear an elected official actually ask a question you'd like to ask yourself.

Okay, so it's also very rare.

:-)

should recuse themselves from asking BigOil,Inc why they're screwing consumers up down and backwards?

6. She's coming to J*sus now
After she voted for the war lots of dems, including me, were ticked off and wouldn't donate or volunteer. My belief is that she is trying to make up for that earlier fox paw.

13. I'm sick of this "she voted for the war" crap.
Yes, I blame the people who voted for the war. Yes, I especially blame democrats who voted for the repuke war.

But we CANNOT lose sight of the fact that this fraudulent war was begun by REPUBLICANS.

So we're at the polls in 2006. A democrat "who voted for the war" is running against ANY republican. I know who I'm gonna vote for: the NON-REPUBLICAN. ALWAYS AND FOREVER. And anyone who plans a lifelong grudge against democrats who "voted for the war" can take that to the bank.

NEVER AGAIN.

Even a flawed democrat, we can probably work with--or work on. But NO REPUBLICANS.

12. She is smart, and I applaud her intelligent questions and all, but
2000+ american dead, hundreds of thousands of Iraqi dead, and $200 billion and counting is a monumental fuck up, and will take an awful lot of intelligent questions and votes to make up for.

Were these individual votes or are you expanding a single vote into sections?

19. She needs to assert herself
That's hardly a cinch state and she barely won via recount in 2000. I'm not sure if Rossi will oppose her next year but she'll much less vulnerable if the most recent year is more impressive than the 5 previous.

21. She lost this Washingtonian's vote in '06 when she voted for the war.
I donated to and supported her campaign in 2000. Then she sold out.
