How are others handling continuing bits of good news? |
|
The elections, the disarray among Republicans, the polls, the Dems' new moves, the retreat from ANWR, and maybe from permanent tax cuts, the reluctance to appear with Shrub. And just read that Santorum is 20 points behind in PA --
I'm trying to keep hope alive, but realistically under control. Trying to remember the power they still have, the Courts. Don't want to jinx things.
It's a strange new feeling.

I have little doubt that if Dems take one of the houses there will be investigations followed by impeachment proceedings.
I believe that will be a bad thing for our economic state, and our position as a world power.
Don't get me wrong... it will be nice to see the democracy finally working. And the removal of the voting machines will insure fair elections as well.

5. Investigations, indictments, and impeachments will be GOOD for our economy |
|
The Repigs are a huge drain on the economy, and getting rid of them can only help. They are hideous parasites, sucking the blood of America by sending jobs overseas, stealing from the poor and middle classes to give to the rich, who then invest outside the country. Their economic policies are bad in every way, so what's bad for the GOP is good for the economy.

Anything to cut back the Shrub that is destroying our economy will help it. It also will improve our standing in the world, since a pervasive view right now is that the US has died of unnatural causes.

9. Oh, and it will also be GOOD FOR our position as a world power. |
|
Bushitler has totally destroyed our credibility in the world: Kyoto, Iraq, and numerous other broken treaties, lies, and shameful 3rd-world dictator behavior (e.g. torture) have made the whole world hate us. In that sense, Bushitler is a "uniter not a divider."
Only by expelling the Regime can we regain any shred of dignity. Merkins have been the last to recognize what an idiot Bush is. The rest of the world has been waiting years for us to do something about him. It's not like they'll say, "Oh my goodness, there's something wrong with Bush? America is not the great nation we thought!" What they'll say is, "Finally you're preparing to grow up and behave like adults. Welcome back!"

6. The timing will be excellent. |
|
High-profile trials take time to ripen. Libby will be starting or approaching his trial around the time of the mid-terms. Meanwhile, the investigations and indictments of Frist, Delay, Hastert, Abramoff, et al, are just barely getting started. Abramoff is going to fill this town with unprecedented stink - much more than Traitorgate.

4. It's like being in AA, as I understand it: |
|
One day at a time.
Or maybe I'm channeling that old TV show.
Seriously, I'm pleased with how events are unfolding, but it means nothing in terms of the lives lost, lives ruined, the desperate financial condition of our country, and - the most chilling - how easily those ratfuckers can steal everything from us again if they have the chance.
Our only hope - and I'm very, very serious here - is Patrick Fitzgerald. He is all that stands between us and complete chaos in the next three years.

8. With VERY cautious optimism |
|
Looking forward to seeing what's going to happen every day, but not holding my breath. We've been disappointed too many times for me to allow myself to get excited about things, but man, it's sure hard to resist getting excited sometimes.
