Check out the Peacekeepers! (pic)
Just in time for Veteran's day. I was particularly impressed with the "peacekeeping" accessories!

Don't get me wrong - I appreciate those of you who are veterans, I know we need a military, etc. etc. But do we really need this doublespeak? I find it appalling.

I have gotten so little rise out of folks here in the big DU over DU, (Depleted Uranium). I managed to put together a thread which wound up on the greatest page for 2 days many months ago but since then yours is the only mention of this WMD that I have seen! Have you gotten the Beyond Treason DVD yet? Click on my link below, it is current as of 4 July '05 and free to all veterans, (18$ otherwise but worth 1000 times this if it help keeps someone near and dear to you from exposure).

77. PLEASE, get it, watch it.
It is long and dry, pretty much a boring viewing BUT the facts are all there nice and tidy. Beyond Treason is IMO the single most important documentary about shit that happened in the gulf period. Depleted Uranium weapons have poisoned that area making it absolutely unfit for human habitation for the next 4.5 BILLION years but that is only 1 of 3 horrors which are documented on that DVD.

The ramifications of Executive Order 13139 signed By President Clinton is explored here too. (Google it then surf through some of the Non-Government stuff about it) In essence Rumsfeld and others are profiting every time a soldier gets a shot in the arm prior to going over to the gulf. Some of those shots are experimental drugs, as of yet untested and some are downright deadly over time.

Another thing on the DVD is the truth about the WMD that WE and others sold Saddam. There is video and testimonials about bunkers the size of the Houston Astrodome FILLED with this stuff. We secretly blew those things up in place thereby removing the incriminating evidence and POISONING everything for hundreds of miles downwind of those bunkers, to include OUR TROOPS.

I realize that I sound a bit frantic on this topic....I chose my name chknltl, (Chicken-Little) because I must spread these words. In the Disney movie Chicken Little was right, the sky did fall. I wish that I was not right. PLEASE get the DVD

23. Hmmmm, no dogs to sic on the prisoners.... maybe the next
version will have dogs.... I like dogs.... the dogs of war, I don't like.

PINK FLOYD LYRICS

"The Dogs Of War"

Dogs of war and men of hate
With no cause, we don't discriminate
Discovery is to be disowned
Our currency is flesh and bone
Hell opened up and put on sale
Gather 'round and haggle
For hard cash, we will lie and deceive
Even our masters don't know the web we weave
One world, it's a battleground
One world, and we will smash it down
One world ... One world
Invisible transfers, long distance calls,
Hollow laughter in marble halls
Steps have been taken, a silent uproar
Has unleashed the dogs of war
You can't stop what has begun
Signed, sealed, they deliver oblivion
We all have a dark side, to say the least
And dealing in death is the nature of the beast
One world, it's a battleground
One world, and we will smash it down
One world ... One world
The dogs of war don't negotiate
The dogs of war won't capitulate,
They will take and you will give,
And you must die so that they may live
You can knock at any door,
But wherever you go, you know they've been there before
Well winners can lose and things can get strained
But whatever you change, you know the dogs remain.
One world, it's a battleground
One world, and we will smash it down
One world ... One world

61. I had a friend in college whose aunt owned a PR firm
The army tried to contract her to market new weapons and vehicles as cool with an ideal target audience of...wait for it...

11 year old boys.

Army marketing is targeted to 11-year-old boys so that they'll grow up wanting to be soldiers and wanting to "play with the neat new guns". The idea is that if they wait until they're old enough to enlist to start targeting them...they've already lost them. I guess they learned that trick from the tobacco industry.

get them playing with 'toys' while they're young and they'll enjoy playing with the big boy 'toys' when they're older.

However, they seem to have forgotten a few things: waterboard with bucket, electrodes for genitals, vicious attack dog and female 12" figure with smile and thumbs up.

"Peacekeeper"? "Death-dealer" more like it.

71. Doublespeak rules the U.S. these days,
becoming more transparent and accepted all the time. :eyes:

We had a nice activity at my "new" school; kids invited veterans from their families and communities to school, served apple pie and sat and chatted with them for awhile. Then the veterans formally introduced themselves and talked to the whole group about their service. There was an interesting variety of vets in attendance: men and women, peacetime vets and war vets, world war II to viet nam, a swift boat vet who claimed to have met Kerry in 'nam, coast guard, navy, marines, airforce. Interestingly, no army. One of the recurring themes in what they had to share was that they took pride in service, and that some of the service they were proudest of were non-combat humanitarian missions.

None of them claimed to be "peacekeepers," and none of the stories were about weapons or combat, although I'm sure they have some of those to share off school grounds.
