My best Veterans Day ever. |
|
I have been a veteran for thirty-four years but had never had Veterans Day off. Today I left work a little early to stand with my fellow veterans, mostly Vitenam vets, in repudiating George Bush's war. Without a doubt the tide has turned. The reception to our protest in a fairly conservative community was overwhelming. The people driving by seemed to understand that we were speaking from a position of truth and real concern for all the victims of G.W. Bush. A steady stream of honking horns, peace signs and other gestures of affirmation made my day. My only question is why we are still having to go into the streets against this war when almost no one seems to support it. We finished with a quiet moment in our Veterans Park and some painful thoughts about the decades old tragedy that has united us against a new war that shames us all.

3. Thanks for sharing that, FightingIrish |

I had the same experience during the Cindy Sheehan vigil I attended. It felt good to have so many people approve of it.
I heard something really sad awhile back on AAR-- this man called in to Ed Shultz' show and began by saying he was a veteran. And Ed said, "Thank you for your service." And there was a pause, then the man said, "No one has ever said that to me."
Thank you for your service, FightingIrish!!

.... Bush admits to the WORLD that he made a mistake, and puts in place a plan to withdraw our troops.
When that day comes we can all snuggle up inside again, but until that day I will continue to fight.
Thanks for taking time of work to fight for your country once again. I Salute you and your fellow veterans FightingIrish!
