The New Republic gives Kerry a "D" in intellectual honesty |
|
John Kerry stepped up his attacks on Howard Dean yesterday--but this time, he overstepped. http://www.tnr.com/primary/index.mhtml?pid=854

1. I don't know...The New Republic? Sad. I wouldn't put too much stock in |
|
their ratings. They're not likely to want any Dem to succeed against Bush....whichever candidate you or I like, I think they just want to undermine.

3. You mean the NEW REPUBLICAN |
|
20 year ago, the New Republic was at the cutting edge
Then Andy Sullivan took it over and drove it into the ground. It's a real worthless piece of shit now

TNR used to be one of the truly great political journals, until Peretz took it over and appointed his special friend Sully to run it.
Then it became a mouthpiece, not a respectable journal.
Now and then TNR has something worth reading, but you now have to approach it with all the critical faculties you use when reading the National Review or the Weekly Standard.
In other words, you have to be prepared to mine the few diamonds from amongst the tons of ore, which is a pity, considering how good TNR used to be.

Lieberman spoke about increasing progresesive taxation: increasing taxes on the very wealthy.
Both Lieberman and TNR were, for once, right (or should I say left?)

5. I am no more impressed with TNR |

than many others here. They have done some slipshod reporting to Dean's detriment and to Kerry's. They have also done some good reporting to both candidates credit. Here, though they did get it right. It was just plain false to say, as Kerry clearly did, that Dean has no Iraq policy.

Very very pro-Liberman. I used to read them a couple of years ago. But now, hell no.

His torured rationle for his positions, his claiming he hasn't changed his point of view on the war (when clearly he has) and his manner of speaking and explaining himself shows me that he is a real phony.

11. based on one event out of like 50 different ratings |
|
Dean and every other candidate has gotten plenty of F's over there
and they've all gotten good marks for different things as well.
They're from different events, written by different journalists
