What is happening with Current TV, Gore's network? |
|
I have Dishnet and it is not offered so have never seen any of it. I have heard no feedback what-so-ever so I guess that means it is not worth commenting on. I think that is a real shame although I am not sure what they/he were trying to accomplish. It was not an entertainment network or a news network  just what is it and does anyone believe it will amount to anything?

1. I've only watched it a couple |
|
...of times, but it appears to be vignettes of different trendy things going on around the world. One of the stories that comes to mind is about a shoe store in France. I haven't seen anything earth shattering on there, but I've only watched a few times.
Cheers!

2. I tried to watch it at first but found it boring. Some of the Podcasts |
|
from viewers are interesting but they have really dippy hosts "too goody-two-shoes" and repeat the same Podcasts a lot. Haven't seen it recently because it was not worth watching. A real shame. We own a network and instead of making a real statement, it's being dribbled away. Just my opinion!

The whole problem with Fox News is that it's there to promote a certain point of view. Propaganda is wrong because it seeks only to justify a frame of reference, not to seek greater truth.
Current is great because it doesn't report foregone conclusions, but actually allows the viewer to make up their own mind.

5. Maybe I'm just too old. Haven't watched in a while but their |
|
hosts were really lame. Glad some people like it. I like Al Gore and want him to do well.

6. I think of it terms of media types-I expect one thing out of radio |
|
another from books and another from television (Marshall McLuen)with each having a specific mode.
Podcasting, by its very nature, on the internet is immediate, available, can usually be subscribed to via RSS, and is asynchronously available. So that, if I want to watch a podcast on a particular topic, I can find it or rewatch it NOW. Television, on the other hand, is a synchronous medium, where one event follows the next and can't be seen out of order or sequence.
I like Al Gore but I believe that podcasting is infinitely richer and full-featured on the internet, and it cripples the technology to put it on tv. it's sort of like the lame "Let's see what the bloggers are doing" that MSNBC and CNN do to try to integrate what is a far different, vital environment and nailing it on the sterile tv background.

3. I watch it regularly, posted about it last week. |
|
It is excellent. Sorta like a network of five minute MTV News documentaries from the late 80's/early 90's. They had news reports from boat rescuers in New Orleans, a firsthand account of poverty in Haiti, and cultural stuff, such as travel docs, the rise of Slam poetry competitions, etc.

7. I tried to watch it... |
|
...a couple of months ago, and did in fact see a couple of segments that were outstanding anti-Bush. But for the most part it was too bland and "life-style" for my taste. I hope that a lot of people do like it, though.
