Did * really say this?
I thought I heard a sound bite on the radio recently; something to the effect that shrub said that even knowing what he knows now about Iraqi WMD (yeah right, like he didn't know at the time) that he would still invade Iraq. Did he really say that? Or was I hallucinating?

2. Some prominent Semicrats have said that recently.
Chuck Schumer comes to mind. Bushitler says stuff like that all the time.

17. Exactly what did Schumer say?
With the information they had, and with George's assurances that he would obtain UN approval and multilateral support, if the UN teams found clear evidence of WMD, then they agreed war could be warranted.

That is, of course, way too much to entrust this administration with, and that is what I fault them for. Perhaps they underestimated the neocon's tunnel vision and intent to get into Iraq on any pretext. I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt, but,...I just don't know.

3. I believe the moron who said that was Chuck Schumer
He's usually a pretty good liberal so I have to assume he was ill with a 105 degree fever that day.

14. No, he was not crazy, he was making sure he gets re-elected.
I hope noone thinks its racist to note that jews generally favor the war because Iraq has long been a threat to Israel. Look at Dershowitz, look at some of the other otherwise liberal/progressive prominent jewish writers and actors who turned into strident war hawks.

Hillary and Schumer voted for the war because they were representing a significant block among their constituents. Thats what they are supposed to do. They weren't crazy, they were doing what the people who vote for them wanted.

4. He HAS to say that
He can't change position about going to a war that killed 2000+ Americans and 30K+ Iraqis.

11. How many Iraqi's?
more like 100,000+. At least that was the estimate in August of 2004.

I wouldn't doubt 250,000 after this White Phosphorous story.

7. He has said this;
"Knowing what I knew then and knowing what I know today, America did the right thing in Iraq."

10. LOL
More a few equivocations in one sentence. That was carefully scripted. I would expect him to try repeating that if he thinks he can sneak by.

Logically something is very wrong about suggestively moving from two unknowns to "AMERICA" doing the right thing as if ultimately saying, "you'll never know, but the nation, not me is responsible". An ugly piece of dodgespeak if ever there was one, and one that Bush is totally incapable of creating off the cuff.

18. I would tend to agree...
But he has had fairly shrewd political instincts bubble up on occasion.

I absolutely agree that it is a nice piece of bullshit.

12. Which proves that his whole WMD angle was just BS
and that there was no threat. At all.

they planned it all along.

Bush is essentially saying that, now knowing that no WMD have been found, he would still do the same thing.

8. It's a know fact he wanted a war with Iraq
I remember a speech by Gore claiming Bush demanded a reason to invade Iraq a few months after taking office. He got his reason by fixing the facts to support a war.

13. He placed America in his speech as the buffer
of responsibility. He can't even suggest he was right without hiding behind the flag.

16. He's said it, I think, sitting across from Russert.
At one point, I distinctly and clearly remember him simply answering with just, "Oh, absolutely."
