News Item: Congress continues to debate ways to cut federal budget deficit.

All right. Let's try this:

Eliminate every post in the government with the title of "deputy to the deputy undersecretary," "assistant chief of staff to the assistant administrator," "principal associate deputy undersecretary," "deputy associate deputy undersecretary,'' "associate principal deputy assistant secretary" and "assistant to the principal deputy assistant secretary."

We can save billions.

Vice President Dick Cheney's daughter Elizabeth is principal deputy assistant secretary of state for Near Eastern affairs, by the way.
