WP: A Prosecutor (Fitz!) Who Wins on (sexy!) Appeal
The Reliable Source
A Prosecutor Who Wins on Appeal
By Amy Argetsinger and Roxanne Roberts
Thursday, November 17, 2005; Page C3

Patrick Fitzgerald -- not just a heartthrob for wonky D.C., it turns out, but a heartthrob for all humanity!

There's the Very Special Prosecutor himself in the pages of People magazine's newly released "Sexiest Man Alive!" issue. He's apparently not the sexiest man alive (that honor goes to coverboy Matthew M cConaughey -- what ever ). But under the heading of "Smart Guys" he's treated to a big color photo and the editors' crazy "subpoena"/mash note calling him to "testify to your incorruptible appeal." Those eyelash-batting People hussies add that "compliance . . . will be deemed satisfactory when somebody cooks you a meal -- and bottles your political intelligence."

A good excuse to chat up Fitzgerald's Chicago staff again, don't you think? Spokesman Randy Samborn returned our call. "When does this come out on the newsstand?" he asked. Ooh, maybe we're getting somewhere this time! So we ask: Any comment from the special prosecutor?

"No."

Uh, how about from his staff? What do you think -- should he have been on the cover? "No comment. I appreciate your call."

What if we said Bob Woodward was inquiring? "I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun with this," Samborn said politely. "I have a lot of other calls to return."

1. This is a prime example of what I hate about American pop culture.
If I were these reporters I would resign for having to write such tripe.

5. This is appropriately under the Style section not the news
section so I don't have a problem with it.

10. Also, call me silly, but Fitz on People's sexy list doesn't hurt his case
IMO, or ours. The more attention drawn to Plamegate, the better.

12. I would bet, given the little we do know about him, he would be
genuinely bemused at hearing this, bemused for a millisecond before he would totally ignore it and carry on with his investigation in the manner he has consistently done. For his fans, of which I am a big one, it is a whole different Fitzmas present, lol.

14. SNL picked up on it in the last few weeks and now it has hit MSM.
Perfectly reasonable. Since most of it revolves around the starvation people have for honesty in the country or honesty amongst public officials. Important trend to pick up on. That there is a distinct need that is not being met. Honest anchormen are gone. Honest leaders or leaders who just lob the truth at the public are gone (well the dems seem to be waking up).

I think it says more about how we are in love with the truth and miss it dearly.

Perhaps a trend that corporations might want to pick up on - honesty and transparency.

17. It was a huge relief to have someone step up and tell us like it is. After
so many years of bullying and lying by the Rove WH.

Tina Fey said sort of the same thing - we are crushing on Fitz cause he is the only man who has not lied to us.
