1. Skewed Question
It misrepresents the issue. It's not about whether that phrase whould stay in the pledge (on which my vote would be, "who cares") but on whether the pledge, with that phrase, should be lead in schools.

10. It shouldn't be recited in school with 'under God' in it.
And the 1954 Congressional action should be reversed -- the wording should not be in the official pledge. Actually, the 'of the United States of America' should also be taken out -- change in the 1920s.

A few more could turn it around.

11. Thanks this is a reallly republican county and skewed news
is always printed on the editorial page ...when they see that half the voters are liberal minded, maybe they will start printing less pro Bush lies ...even the reporters told me they are afraid to print real news here..
thanks

12. Shouldn't the question be:
Should we put the pledge back the way it was until 1956?

13. Yes, it should be
But I was informed by one of the reporters at the paper that he is "not allowed" to even cover left ideas....he said he agrees with me about the Bush administration, but his editors wont allow him to print anything left of center..
I cant even get him on email anymore to send him articles...I guess my email was banned from his site..
Maybe the editorial staff at this paper (which reaches a lot of people), needs to see that not everyone agrees with their pro Bush positions, and pro right positions..
Thanks for responding..

20. Shouldn't be recited AT ALL!
I have the dubious distinction of being a classmate of the wingnut who pushed for the revival of the Pledge in the 1970s.

She was on the talk shows, paraded around by politicians, mom did a great job of marketing her. But at Coronado High School in Scottsdale, she was persona non grata. In fact, one day she got her ass kicked for smarting off at a female "rocker." It really wasn't a big thing, but she just POed everyone so much that that was all it took. (It was way more than the Pledge, btw).
