Local NBC affiliate doing their late news and they showed a clip of Sen. Stevens saying that WMDs might still exist like the buried planes that were found.

Wow.

14. MAKE NO MISTAKE, HE GOT THE MONEY
FOR THE BRIDGE - ONLY THEY DID NOT SAY IT WAS FOR THE BRIDGE. THEY TOOK THE BRIDGE LANGUAGE OUT AND GAVE HIM THE MONEY FOR THE STATE OF ALASKA

THATS THE WAY THE SCUM DOES BUSINESS

THIS GUY IS A NUT CASE AND ALASKANS BETTER WAKE UP

19. But he got the money instead of the bridge; maybe that's
what he was aiming for from the get-go.

'Bridge to nowhere' stripped from US funding bill

http://today.reuters.com/investing/financeArticle.aspx?...

WASHINGTON, Nov 16 (Reuters) - Mandatory funding for two controversial bridge projects in Alaska -- including the ridiculed "bridge to nowhere" -- has been stripped from a federal spending bill, a congressional committee said on Wednesday.

In an unusual move to change "pork" spending, House-Senate negotiators removed the $432 million in required spending during final talks on a yearly bill to fund programs for the Transportation and Treasury departments, the House Appropriations Committee said.

As a compromise, Alaska will still receive the money that had been set aside for the bridges to spend as it likes on transportation needs.

Congressional negotiators were under pressure from lawmakers and fiscal watchdogs to address concerns about mandatory spending on pet projects. The bridges had become symbols of egregious spending during an era of record budget deficits.

The quarter-mile $223 million "bridge to nowhere" span got its nickname because it connects the port town of Ketchikan to neighboring Gravina Island, population 50. That and the other $209 million bridge - dubbed "Don Young Way" in Anchorage - could still be built but now must compete with other transportation funding priorities in the state.

27. There are WMD in Iraq! They came in with the US military.
On the other hand, I think the ones we sold to Iraq were already dismantled.

If anyone happens to know Dan Pipes, he advocated selling arms to Saddam when Saddam was at his worst (attacking Iran). Pipes was an advisor to Bush, and appointee to the United States Institute of Peace, a Congressionally sponsored think tank dedicated to "the peaceful resolution of international conflicts." (I am not making this up.)

You can read his article in The New Republic advocating a "tilt towards Iraq" by going here:

this guy is ridiculous. :eyes:

My favorite excuse about the WMD's is that they're now in Syria...until we want to invade Iran and then they'll magically appear there instead.

Edited on Thu Nov-17-05 07:36 PM by OhioBlue
This is the 3rd time I have heard it today. on www.Ashbrook.org they cite someone that says they are probably hidden. When I was wondering out loud how they could still believe this, my b/f said that this weekend while he was at his Aunt's house both she and her neighbors made the assertion that the WMD were hidden or buried in Iraq. They also said * was the best pResident ever and that criticizing him was being against the troops......

32. Aren't the neocons creating some (fake) documents that will
soon be released through their friends at the Pentagon where they find a bunch of buried weapons; weapons recently planted in Iraq by some private military groups employed by God knows who? It won't be so difficult to pull it off now that Brewster Jennings has been dismantled.

Comments by Senator Stevens and others are indications that this info/operation is about to hit our radar screens.
