217-215 I cannot believe it. |

Of course in the repug bizarro world, it makes all the sense in the world for the house to vote to cut food stamps, medicaid, student loans, any type of social support network. This has to be the last heaving throes of a moribund philosophy and ethic. This is going to be so sweet next year in the 06 congressionals. They keep handing us opportunities to kick their ass. The W04 signs in the trash in NOLA, cutting social programs while passing another round of cuts for the wealthy. Olympia Snow said it is beyond the pale that such things are even being discussed, let alone voted on. They are handing us control of both houses! Please lord, don't let us screw it up this time!!

2. Whacking student loans, that might make the collegiates rowdy |
|
Roughly 2300 US campuses...a hundred students protesting on each campus, hmm, a quarter of a million folks complaining about Bush policy.
That would be good.

I went to bed last night thinking it was shot down, and then they twist and turn and wheedle. They should vote, and be done. We, the people, don't get to twist arms and re-vote until we like the results. They shouldn't get to, either x(

After making a big deal about opposing this budget resolution for reporters because it is bad for his district, he waffled and voted for it an hour later. This is another hold the floor open for voting until we get what we want at 2 a.m. vote. Anything that is too shameful to vote for in daylight should not be discussed in the middle of the night.

The deficit reduction act that raises the deficit 20 billion dollars. They better enjoy their martinis with their rich buddies while they can because they'll be looking for new positions after November.

"we" meaning the Dems we're apparently going to be electing in droves?
Plenty of repubs may strongly dislike *, but that doesn't mean they'll automatically vote dem either.
We can only hope.

we pass everything on a straight party line vote just like we did to pass the balanced budget amendment act which resulted in a three trillion dollar surplus. Not a single republican voted for it.
We will make them beg like puppies who haven't eaten in two months before we'll permit one of their bills to even come to the floor.
We'll do it just like we had to when Clinton was there.

Charlie Rangel made an excellent speech and so did many other other democrats, Rangel nailed Nussle but it the end it wasn't enough. Cutting food stamps and child care--how the fuck can these bastards look at themselves in the mirror?

As much as I disagree with his conservative ideology, he's definitely not one of the DeLay lackeys...I think he lost a big post on the Veterans Affairs committee because of that. So maybe he's a bit pissed at his party

Two Dem challengers in place: Jason Altmire and Georgia Berner(?sp). I think there is a legitimate chance of taking this DeLay loving, anti-science, RW zealot out in 2006. She is the true female version of (P)ricky.
I've already signed up to work on Jason Altmire's campaign as my personal quest to unseat Hart in 06.
