Why would they DARE cut food stamps, etc for poor people?
Because the poor people are unable to rise up against the system.
What the middle class does not realize is that if they don't fight for those that are less fortunate, then they will soon become the "poor" class.
The rich aren't going to rise up because they get theirs (and yours and mine), now the poor will be left with nothing.
This will cause an increase in crime (people WILL feed their families even if they have to steal).
Our social contract in this country is now completely null and void.
Let the uprising begin!

because they're about to vote on a 70 billion dollar tax cut for the wealthy. How would they pay for it if they didn't cut the funding to the poor?

3. It means they don't fear the masses rising up.
That was the only reason we had a social contract to begin with, to placate the people. Apparently they no longer see any threat from us.

14. They Need to Know What What Real Fear Is
One of these days the masses are going to revolt. There is just so much people can take. I wonder what the tipping point will be. I know it won't be pretty when it happens.

5. I really think it's going to get worse before it gets better
Think about how this country celebrates greed when you're flipping the channels and finding back to back episodes of the Apprentice on Thanksgiving.

People have been made cyncial about the possibility of government helping them at all. The media cultivates fatalism about the possibility of meaningful social change.

The middle class fears their corporate management and resents the poor getting any breaks. They worry that if the boss gets taxed he will just fire them and they'll have nothing. Maybe, just maybe, if nobody rocks the boat and upsets the boss they can hold on until retirement. That's the middle class mentality.

8. You know...
You can take people's shelter. They will be silent. Take their land, they will be silent. Take their oil, their money, their freedom, still they can be silent. But if anything in history holds true, the greatest riots and uprising of civil war has been created by taking away people's food and right to eat.

It is foolish, and hopefully, the last straw.

9. As always, they take their shots at the vulnerable--
school kids, elderly, poor people--and let's get real, folks, some of the people who are unable to work are in that situation because they have disabilities which have been proven. It is not right that we would deny school kids reduced price meals if they have need.
This is why kids turn to selling drugs--because no one cares about them.

Get us out of warfare and into showing that we care about people.

13. are you kidding? why wouldn't they?
This is 100% in line with the philosophy of "every man for himself" that is clearly what guides right wing social policy. It's the "you're on your own-ership society".

16. If the Democratic Party was wise...
It would record any video tape and the voting record of all Republicans up for re-election, and hammer them non-stop during the upcoming election with commercials showing exactly who these bought and paid for Republicans represent.

All up coming voters must fully understand who the REPUBLICANS & the REPUBLICAN PARTY really represent, and who they always defraud.

To listen to REPUBLICANS claim last night that the Democrats were waging "class warfare," after what these thieves have done to the majority of the population, warrants the country's attention on who these money whores really represent.

21. couldn't have said it better myself
The only thing most humans have truly evolved was sophisticateed vocabulary. But most humans are still too simple to be able to listen to anything other than that sophistication.

Reason, compassion, exists in so few. Sadly, most humans have just learned to imitate it, not enact it.

20. Keep in mind the old definition of Dems and Repugs ...
"Republicans would rather cut off welfare to 100 deserving families to get one welfare cheater, while Democrats would rather give welfare to 100 people who don't deserve it so that one needy family could eat."

29. So true
Where I teach, many of the families are working poor who are losing their health care due to govt cuts. But we cannot get them to speak out because they don't have a tradition of speaking out. Many are too busy working and surviving. Many don't feel educated enough to write a letter. Some are suspicious of the govt and afraid to contact their legislators. Some are illegals.

It really is up to the rest of us to speak up on their behalf.

30. You would not believe the callousnous in some people concering
this newest outrage by the government, they seriously could care less, and yet these same people who whine about their tax dollars going to the needy have absolutely no problem that their money is being used to kill innocent people in an illegal war..

All they go on about is the laziness of the poor, its like talking to a brick wall when attempting to get them to understand that so many of these programs are life and death situations for so many, yet they have no problem believing abortion to be a very high issue that needs our tax dollars to demand it be stopped..

I guess once out of the womb, your on your own in thier eyes. Sick sick people...
