Stop Drive-through Mastectomies

Sign the petition and make a difference!

Sign this petition. By doing so, you'll ensure that women who are diagnosed with breast cancer won't have to worry about being forced out of the hospital after undergoing a mastectomy! The Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act of 2005 will guarantee that women and their physicians, not insurance companies, will decide when they are ready to go home. So voice your support now — with your signature. Lifetime will deliver your signature, along with the millions of others, to Congress. Please add your name to the list to help get this legislation passed. (Presione aquÍ para español.)

U.S. Senators Olympia J. Snowe (R-ME) and Mary L. Landrieu (D-LA) and U.S. Representatives Sue Kelly (R-NY) and Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) introduced The Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act of 2005. As part of the network's Stop Breast Cancer for Life advocacy campaign, Lifetime has been working to pass this legislation since 1996 and now has collected more than 10 million petition signatures from viewers who have showed support for Congress to pass this bill. 1. My mom went through that. Thanks for the link. Here is my mesg
My mother had a "radical mastectomy" and had to go home like 24 hours or so later. She went home with holes in her skin and tubes running in them. It is wrong and dangerous too. A reasonable hospital stay is the right thing to do. Doctors should decide when it's time for patients to return home - NOT INSURANCE COMPANIES and THEIR PAID PHYSICIANS.

2. Thanks. I went through it also, but 20+ years ago, and spent
10 days in a military hospital. Quite a difference.
I was hoping more people would jump on board for this. We know many voices can get things done.

5. I don't joke about stuff like this and had heard about
this practice for the past few years. It's all about $$ and shouldn't be, especially when a woman's life could be in danger for lack of immediate follow-up healthcare.

I more meant it was hard for me to believe that americans would be that sick. I hate to say it, but the lack of empathy some people in this country has still shocks me, even now, as time goes on.

4. Drive through hysterectomies and C-sections too
I've been through both, not fun. You're out of there lickety split and if you're not ready, well that's too bad.
