Are all the house votes a sham like this?
WTF, I'm watching the vote on CSPAN as each vote is submitted, and wonder what kind of system that is, It looks like the reps can guage the effectiveness of their vote because as each vote is cast, the result is known. It has been moving incrementally with the Republicans keeping it close to even but the end result will be that it dosn't pass. Is that why they extend the votes through the night? What is a vote if you can see how your vote will influence the outcome? Is this done on all votes, or only procedural votes like this?

I always thought they couldn't see the votes as they were being cast.

Seems like a change is needed.

But this shouldn't be called a vote.

3. One party rule, baby.
Isn't it pretty? This is how it goes in the Senate pretty much, too.

Sometimes they work deals where if one person votes for this the other will vote for that, but for the most part, this is it.

6. You need to see the votes that are really close,
and Tom Delay is down there handing out cash and twisting arms to get the votes changed (figuratively, or course).

7. It's the tyranny of this majority, threats, arm twisting and
general assholery are this republican party's coin of the realm.

8. .Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely
THAT is what you're watching. Corruption in action by a one party dictatorship. They know WHO will vote HOW before they ever get to the floor. If someone steps out of line and doesn't vote the way the dictatorship has ordered them to vote, they leave the voting open, take the member to the cloak room and twist arms, threaten their children or threaten them with no funds from the RNC during their next election. THEY ARE TRULY A CORRUPT BUNCH OF ASSHOLES. They do this on ALL votes.

10. guess I'm pretty naive, but now the arm twisting makes sense.
I thought the votes were tallied after all were in, not as the vote goes on. No wonder it's so fucked up in Washington. This opens the whole thing up to corruption.

Call me sad tonight.
