19. So, to recap.
Edited on Fri Nov-18-05 11:10 PM by Patsy Stone
The Republican House members are debating the merits of a non-binding resolution, introduced by a Republican, to withdraw the troops immediately. By voting against this, they are, ostensibly, supporting the troops.

This is to make the Dems and Murtha, who has not said immediate withdrawl, ever, look bad by, again, offering a fallacious argument that the Dems want to cut and run, and that they intend to vote no, to keep the troops there, just because the Dems want withdrawl so bad, and they are gonna wave the "No" in our faces because we're cowards and they want perpetual war to support freedom.

The Dems are for the withdrawl of troops, have nothing to lose by voting for this because it's non-binding. So, if they vote in favor of the resolution, and all the Repubs vote against it (which they won't) and it passes, the House will have sent a message to the WH that they want the troops home.

And what's wrong with that? And what the hell kinda strategery is it that allows your opponent to stand on the floor and expose the sham argument that it is. Wow. Did the RNC hire Bob Shrum?

41. It's a resolution that announces the sense of the house. It has not legal
bearing that I know of. Murtha wanted to force debate on having an exit strategy. The pukes didn't want that debated over the turkey day break and so they bastardized the resolution to make it a vote on bringing troups home immediately.

House GOP seeks quick veto of Iraq pullout

By LIZ SIDOTI, Associated Press Writer
Friday, November 18th, 2005 03:13 PM (PST)

WASHINGTON (AP) - House Republicans maneuvered for swift rejection Friday of any notion of immediately pulling U.S. troops out of Iraq, sparking a nasty, sometimes personal debate over the war and a Democratic lawmaker's own call for withdrawal.
Furious Democrats accused the GOP of orchestrating a political stunt, leaving little time for debate and changing the meaning of a withdrawal resolution offered by Democratic Rep. John Murtha of Pennsylvania.

For those reasons, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi sent word to rank-and-file Democrats to vote - with the Republicans - against immediate withdrawal of American troops.

Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., said of the nonbinding resolution, "We want to make sure that we support our troops that are fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. We will not retreat."......

46. This vote doesn't matter ...
... the story tomorrow will be the crass, cynical politics of the radical Republicans.

I think this really shows how desperate the Bushites are ... they wouldn't have done this if they didn't know how deep in trouble they are.

Besides, the majority of Americans diapprove of this war and most want them home -- now.
