I guess everyone was watching CSPAN last night. McCain made an appearance on Letterman's show last night and I got the distinct impression he is positioning himself to run in 08. I wish it was all straight in my head, but I slept since then. Dave asked him about Delay and McCain kind of circled around it talking about Abramof's reservation stuff and the golf outing in Scotland. Delay is indicted for breaking Texas law not that other stuff.
He was funny and self deprecating but I don't trust this guy.

and if he is nominated he will be tough to beat, not because he is a real independent, but because so many Americans "think" he is and the media goes ga-ga over him, even more so than with Dumbya.

3. why do you assume he will be tough to beat |
|
doesn't it depend who he runs against?
He voted against making Martin Luther King a national holiday, how does that come across to minorities
The right wing that has taken over the republican party, they hate his GUTS. That is at least 20% of the repuke constituent. Just read what free republic says about him
He is calling for more troops in Iraq, but where do we get them? A draft? Let him try it
As long as the Democrats put up a candidate who speaks truth to power we should do well

he was against making Martin Luther King day a National Holiday, He got special favors during the S&L crisis, but most of all he has NO INTEGRITY because he let his family be degraded by this administration, and still supported them
Please note, McCain may want to run, but he is NOT healthy either
We have a lot of new democratic blood on the horizon

5. You think that matters |

Most white people don't care about MLK day, particularly Republican white people. That isn't going to hurt him. McCain would be nearly impossible to beat. The only thing that will beat him is if he refuses to lay out an alternate plan for the war. He can only beat himself.

He is not popular among the 20% extreme in his party. As far as MLK, it is just one more negative, and he will NOT get labors vote, which include, teachers, nurses, and unions
If he cannot get those 20% extremists in his party to vote for him, he will NOT win.
Incidently, they said the same thing about Arnold in California, that the Democrats did NOT have a chance. The whole situation has turned around.
McCain campainged for Arnold's propositions, and he lost
