In one way, or another, the following have claimed NOT to be Woodward's source:

Hadley
Wolfowitz
Marc Grossman
Doug Feith
Eric Edelman
Dick Cheney
CON-di
DimSon
Card
Rove
Bartlett
Hughes
Ari
Powell
Tenet
McLaughlin
Carl Ford
Alan Foley
David She
Richard Armitage
Tenet

Who's Left ?? Clue: WP says that Woodward's source spent MANY hours with Woodward helping him with "Plan of Attack"

Have Declined to Comment:
Robert Joseph, Under Sec'y State Arms Control
RUMMY

1. Could well be--and it fits, too
The intel capabilities of the DOD have always been subordinated in some fashion to the See Eye Eh and other agencies, and Rummy wanted to change that with his Defense Transformation bullshit. See, he didn't like hearing the brutal truth from those desk-flying "analysts" because they got in the way of his worldview, and he wanted the capability to do that sort of work independently (precisely the kind of thing we have been trying to get AWAY from after 911).

And he qualifies as a Senior Administration Official--he's right behind State in the pecking order...

2. I wonder if he was on that infamous AF1 flight when they talked
Edited on Sat Nov-19-05 04:09 PM by Laura PackYourBags
about all this. Funny thing, last thing I read was that the WH refused to turn over the list of those who were on board.

Oh, another thing - I could see him sitting for hours on end with Woodward - helping with the Plan of Attack book. No underling would do that.

3. Was Hadley ruled out?
The only statrment that I've heard was his play on word statement where he said something along the lines of ... SOME PAPERS HAVE REPORTED THAT I AM NOT THE SOURCE.

Have we heard anything else from/about him?

4. Bush also qualifies under the "many hours" criterion
Edited on Sat Nov-19-05 04:38 PM by librechik
also, Woodward reports that Bush thought nothing of blabbing on about classified stuff freely during the interviews.

and the "won't comment" criterion.

hopeful little devil, ain't I?

9. You know, I could have sworn I heard that his source had not
testified prior to this latest deal. That would knock out Matelin and B**, right?

11. hmmm--to parse a bit, there's testified, and there's "testified"
seems to me that since Dim Son was not under oath he can be said to have "testified" rather than testified, or not mayb he didn't testify at all. IMO, since WE THE PEOPLE didn't hear it, I have to say "not at all."

Who knows? It's all fun and games until the testes get involved. And seems like codpieces are fully engaged here. So to speak.

8. You're right TG ! I couldn't find where she was eliminated. But
would she have the breadth and depth to be a big source to Woodward for his book?

She was the queen of propaganda, right. And she doesn't work there anymore, right. The reason I say that is because I heard the TH's on Faux deduce that the person didn't work for the WH anymore.

Hmmm. Poor James !

10. This is really weird, but I just read about that today.
I've been cleaning up those little stacks of things that accumulate around the house, and one of them had a section of the local paper from May, 2004.

I was about to toss it when I saw an article that discussed Woodward's new book (Plan of Attack), especially his unusual access to powerful people and also his peculiar relationship with the Washington Post.

In that article, it mentioned that Bush had talked to him for three and a half hours in December, and that Rumsfeld had spent an equal amount of time with Woodward earlier in the year.

Wonder if that was in June?

17. Just because someone claims NOT to be Woodward's
source doens't necessarily mean that they're not, especially given the way these people lie.

18. Rumsfeld says he was not Woodward's source
http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/news/politics/13218859.htm

WASHINGTON - Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld on Sunday added his name to the list of senior Bush administration officials who say they were not the source who told Washington Post reporter Bob Woodward that administration critic Joseph Wilson's wife worked for the CIA.

Rumsfeld said he never spoke to Woodward about either Wilson or Wilson's wife, CIA officer Valerie Plame. The Pentagon chief did say that, at the direction of President Bush, he did speak to Woodward while the reporter was working on book projects.

Woodward says that in June 2003, a highly placed administration official told him of Plame's CIA connection. Woodward has said the source was someone other than I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, Vice President Dick Cheney's former chief of staff and the only person indicted in a federal investigation of the leak case.

"This is quite amusing," Rumsfeld said. "I was asked to speak with Mr. Woodward about a couple of books he's written, and I declined, and finally I was told by the White House, the president, that he thought I should meet with him. So I did. But I did it on the basis that there would be a transcript and it would be public," Rumsfeld told "Fox News Sunday."
