1. Here's a real thinker..... |
|
How is it that the only really good comedians are basically Democrat and have the ability to make really good jokes at the Repugs expense. My memory may be short, but I don't recall as many(and I mean practically Comedy Central because I do remember with clarity SNL making fun of Clinton)jabs and overall sarcasm during the Clinton years.

5. I can see Good ole Bill |
|
Clinton making and joke, heck , even Harry Reid looks like he could pop a few good one liners, but if Delay, Frist, Cheney and Rove are the prime examples (Bush has gotten to the point that just looking at him makes it funny by default)of the Republican psychological make up, I would take a guess that these men are constipated quite a bit.... :hurts:

3. The Republicans just give them so much more material |
|
Before last year's election Letterman told some Bush jokes and then added "I'm gonna miss him". His meaning was clear that he was not supporting Bush but would miss the jokes.

12. During the Clinton years, they just jabbed him on sex. |
|
Sex is funny, and it remains the punchline of any Clinton gag.
But, nothing is funnier than sheer incompetence, and they just didn't have that until the Bush years. I'm sure the comic writers are eating it with a spoon.
I loved the Jean Schmidt bit during "Weekend Update", too. When Rachel Dratch, clad in Schmidt-esque patriotic garb said, "and the Beatles weren't really that good," the House Dems threw garbage at her. :-)

16. The only republican with a wicked sense of humor is Bob Dole... |
|
he is a corrupt dirtbag, but he really does possess a very sharp sardonic wit. But so did Caligula and Vlad The Impaler...

11. well, If you don't want her, I'll take her |
|
I'm not sick of her yet, but, as they say, "No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere, is tired of putting up with her shit!"

9. The problem with Chimpy is that it isn't "funny" anymore... |
|
SNL's version of Chimpy is so spot on that it is indeed scary that we have such a dangerous ass representing this great country.
I'll take Bubba batting off rumors of blowjobs in the Oval office anyday...harmless by any standard in the end...
Chimpy is just plain scary.

10. I agree- I haven't been able to see any humor in him since people started |
|
dying because of him. There's plenty there to laugh at- but the best I can muster when comedians mock Bush is a resigned sort of "yeah, I understand you completely".

14. I agree too. They made Bush look like an ass on SNL tonight... |
|
... and it wasn't getting lots of laughs. I think you are right. People just don't think what's happening is funny. They laughed at the Clinton jokes on SNL all through his administration ... even to this day. Making fun of Bush is like making fun of cancer.

It went middle road and it just didn't work for me.
