Where have all the 'W' bumper stickers gone? |
|
Over the past couple of weeks, I have made a conscious effort to look for and locate Pro-W or Pro-GOP bumper stickers. Its getting tough! Even in Kansas where they were previously displayed with great zeal.
Has anyone else noticed the trend?
Does this reflect dissatisfaction and/or embarrassment on the part of Bush backers?
Or have the Pubs naturally scraped off their stickers because the election was over a year ago and they are no longer in "campaign mode?"
Any other theories?

I'm in a red state, what can I say. Bush can rape young children, and these people will still like him.

I've noticed that the W sticker is gone from the first lady at church to question my letters to the editor. She seemed to be a one-issue voter at the time but has a son coming of age - maybe she'll look at at least two issues from here on in. Her W sticker is gone!! emdee

24. Same here in Putnam County Florida |
|
Before the election we hardly saw a Bush/Cheney sticker. Lots of Kerry/Edwards though. That made me optimistic because our county is very Red.
Then after the election and Bush said he had a Mandate, all of sudden all of these Bush/Cheney bumperstickers start appearing all over the place. It was the strangest thing.
Now it is becoming impossible to find one.
It sure does say alot about GOP voters, only want to be on the winning side.

12. Yes "W" is fading. I have seen several newer ones though |
|
it's a RWB S&S sticker that says in white type "Support President Bush and Support our Troops"
The "W" bumpersticker seemed to convey agreement and identification with inner-circle, risk-taking, devil-may-care breezy machismo.
This new bumpersticker I've seen doesn't "feel" like much of anything, except for covneying that the bearer is simple and stubborn.

"Annoy A Liberal-Support The Troops" type stickers moreso than even the many Dubya ones that still exist.
My favorite is the Castro like "Viva Bush!" which is ALWAYS ALWAYS placed on an SUV being driven by some ignorant WHITE yahoo whose knowledge of Spanish is proudly on display on the bumper of their truck.

35. Fresno, California Still Awash in Bush Bumper Stickers... |
|
Edited on Sun Nov-20-05 05:46 PM by Innoma
In the socially benighted home of our gallant crusaders for darkness and evil (better known as Free Republic), I have to say that Fresno California and surrounding counties remain absolutely festooned with Bush bumper stickers, not to mention loads of freeway signs and banners promoting some kind of religious message or missives against the U.N.
To this day every other vehicle or so on the road still sports Bush bumper stickers, not to mention flags, Support the Troops ribbons, religious messages, etc., etc., etc.
The county I live in (Tulare) voted something along the lines of 83% Bush in the last election, so this hardly comes as any surprise, but it sure makes living here a trying, depressing experience.
On edit: Before there 2004 elections, there were actually some Kerry stickers to be found, but by October I never saw one again, and haven't seen one since.
I can say, however, that a couple of the more strident republican types I know have backed off a bit in their militant support of all thing Bush by using the excuse that they haven't been following politics very closely of late. So while I think these people are still consummate republican types at heart, they've backed away from Bush in particular, which is an interesting development.

I must say though, in just the last week, I have had 2 people come up to me and tell me how much they like my bumper stickers on my car. :)
"BUSH IS A LIAR"
"IMPEACH BUSH"
"DRAFT YOUNG REPUBLICANS"
"LIBERAL AND PROUD OF IT"
"W STILL a MORON"
"DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION"
"W ar"
So, I' AM encouraged. People ARE waking up.

the South Bay area of Los Angeles County. In fact one day I was leaving the shopping center and saw one, so I decided to see what kind of an idiot was sporting it. I drove up beside them and it was my cousin!!!:wow: I know she's a reTHUG but to STILL be flaunting her stupidity just blew my mind! I was wondering if she would see me along side her but like all reTHUGs driving along with chimp stickers she stared straight ahead, the signal changed and that was that. I haven't seen her for two years and as far as I'm concerned if I ever see her socially again, it's too soon for me. :puke:
