If it's going so well in Iraq, why aren't there lots of reporters over
there sending us footage of beautiful new schools, hospitals, and businesses? Why aren't we getting story after story of the successes we have wrought? Why can't we see all this good stuff for ourselves on our tee vees? Seriously.

1. I bet you if it was all peachy peach over there, Fox
news would move their and be anchoring their hourly news from Baghdad to show how capable the Great Leader is.

10. Yes! Let's see all the schools

and their relaxing Sundays in the Parks.

Let's see them driving their cars happily down the street for a little visit to grandma's house.

Let's see them strolling over to the grocery store to pick up a few items to send to their relatives for the next holiday.

Bush should be made to live out his days in Iraq!

3. My thoughts exactly
Where are all the pictures of all the "improvements" to the Iraqi infrastructure? Sure would go a long way to quieting the critics wouldn't it? The lack of such pictures speaks volumes to my mind - there aren't a large number of pictures because there isn't anything to take a picture of. The freepers were lickety split with their pictures of underwater school buses in the wake of Katrina - so where's those fine photos of all the good we're doing in Iraq? Just point me to a website that has those ....

5. So true!

Where are the interviews with typical Iraqi civilians? Where is the footage of the streets of Baghdad??

I heard some NPR snippet the other day that talked about how soldiers watch Friends DVDs at night. Americans in Iraq are not missing the equipment or technology to record daily life on the street.

And how would recording the daily lives of Iraqis be compromising national security?

8. I haven't seen Bob Arnot in a while
remember when he used to roam around Iraq showing MSNBC viewers how great things were?

That seems like such a long, long time ago.

11. In A Sobering Moment Of Reflection
Edited on Sun Nov-20-05 04:57 PM by ThomWV
It occurs to me that if we did indeed have an active press operating in Iraq that the Iraqi people would be much better off for it. I would think the people of Iraq, including the "insurgents" would welcome Reporters from all nations to roam every inch of their country.

The result would have to be focus on the most pressing problems of the country - be they infrastructure or political - and essentially force US involvement in the practical work of repairing what we broke (or broke into if you prefer to think of it that way). It would also let the people of that good country see real Democracy in action. That would be Democracy in which an informed public guides the actions of its Representatives with resulting action that reflects the desires of the governed, not the governors.

13. RWing pundits complain about only bad news out of Iraq...
but they themselves don't report on the supposed "good news" of Iraq. Isn't that a bit of irony?

Reconstruction funds have vanished. Where did those $ Billions disappear to?

16. I have several friends and had relatives over there serving so
I don't parrot the line many folks here do. They have a right to they opinions, much of it is based on what the MSM talking heads tell us, which is actually for the most part highly inaccurate or at least only half the story

That's why I posted the CENTCOM news release. Even CENTCOM doesn't have much information about what is going on over there with the rebuilding effort. Of course they probably don't consider themselves as a news outlet

The "problem" parts of Iraq are actually only about 5 areas as compared to the rest of the country.

There are many great things our soldiers are doing over there. I know from personal emails sent to me.

Very little good gets reported which is a shame.

on either CSpan or MSNBC, that it costs $35,000 every time they go to Bagdad airport - special vehicle and security guards, etc.
