Bob Woodward: History will record your name with an asterix. |
|
Bob, it's the stuff of tragedy. Your own fatal flaw has doomed your legacy. Was it the money, Bob? They say it corrupts like nothing else. You wanted to get in good with the guys who were handing you those massive tax breaks, was that it? Sure, you've always been a Republican, but, gosh, Bob. We thought you were a little better. What happened?
Bob Woodward.* Used to be synonymous with exposing corruption at the highest levels of government. Now synonymous with "sell out."
Looking back, don't you think you should have quit the game while you were ahead? You didn't really need to write those puff-piece books propping up the Bush administration, now, did you? In retrospect, it probably wasn't worth it, don't you think?
Also, did you think about the cocktail parties when you were doing your very own cover-up? All those people who used to glance at you admiringly across the room with their Chardonnay in their hand ... Don't you wonder what they're thinking now? Doesn't it kind of get under your skin that many of them will look at you with disappointment in their eyes?
Don't you miss your reputation for ferreting out the truth rather than being complicit in hiding it?
What a waste, Bob. Such a waste.

3. I see where your coming from.... |

but I had always thought that he and Bernstein were given Watergate by Ben Bradlee, because Poppy Bush and Co. had decided it was time for Nixon to go. He's always played for the other team while wearing our uniform. imo

7. Didn't you think it strange .... |

that a movie is produced just a couple of years after the Watergate/Impeachment went down. I had always believed that we as a populous were fed this drama that cubby hardworking journalists were burning the midnight oil on this coverup. When the reality was that the movie 'was' the coverup.

Five years ago I would have thought that to be some wacky conspiracy theory. Now, I'm inclined to believe these things. We find out every day that even though things appear to be insane and corrupt, we are only scratching the surface of the insanity and corruption.

Bohemian Club and Bilderburgs. Before you go there, you'll need to understand that you won't view anything again the same way. Careful!

10. Oh yeah. I grew up in the Bay Area and remember hearing |

about the Bohemian Club. Scary stuff -- all the worst "conspiracy theory" actors gathering in one place.

4. Woodward's most disgusting "sin" |

Edited on Mon Nov-21-05 01:11 PM by marylanddem
was continually attempting to discredit Fitzgerald's investigation without disclosing his personal stake in the matter. Woodward has now been exposed as a man so worshipped and so blinded by his own overblown reputation & celebrity status that he felt he was beyond ethics, IMHO. As someone who got into journalism during the Watergate era, I have long been disturbed to see him touting the company line & now his complicity is fully revealed. Shame on him, shame on Downie for defending him, and shame on the Post ombudsman's whitewash piece in yesterday's paper. Bob, you have given up any claim on credibility you may have once had. How does it feel to be such a journalistic whore?

6. I wonder how Robert Redford feels about playing him... |
|
in All the President's Men now that he knows he didn't portray an investigative reporter trying to uncover a White House scandal through a whistleblower, but rather a toadie for Poppy Bush trying to oust Richard Nixon.
