Catholic Priest Arrested on Molestation Charges
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051121/ap_on_re_us/priest_arrested

PHOENIX - The former vicar general of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Phoenix was arrested Monday on charges he fondled boys and young men and asked them prying questions about their sex lives that he pretended were part of confession.

3. really. Like, this is so dated, man.
But in Boston, Chicago and LA, the churches all announced that all problems have been solved and that it is only old cases that remain to be dealt with.
yeah. Sure.

7. Not hardly (no pun intended)
According to a gay friend of mine who used to be a Catholic, there is *a lot* of this going on everywhere. Many people actually *become* Priests as a way to deny their homosexuality. Then they find that their fantasies become more intense and they end up molesting alter boys. Usually they get away because the alter boys are too afraid to come forward with allegations for fear of what may happen to them, and that the Priest will be exonerated.

So sad.

Don't get this wrong, there are lots of serious Catholic Priests, but there are many more molesters.

There needs to be "sweeping reform."

2. Thank gawd we have these guys to tell us how to protect our children...
from the dangers of gay marriage.

All we have to do is leave our kids with the priests while we shout "pro-family" things such as "God Hates Fags," and everything will be okay.

Priests should be registered the same way sex-offenders are, so we can know if our children are living near one.

By the church's own figures, over 4% of their priests have credible molestation charges against them. And those are the ones they're admitting too.

If they'd just allow priests to masturbate without guilt, I bet that number would drop by about 1%.

I don't blame catholics or even just priests-- I think much of it has to do with the celibate lifestyle choice. We should register everyone who has made that lifestyle choice regardless of what religion they are.

Think about the children!

4. I was hoping
the new part might mean it had recently happened and was immediately dealt with. I hope no priests are molesting now of course...I just hope that if it does happen there will not be a long cover up so it can keep happening.

But this says "Fushek committed the acts between 1984 and 1994"
It went on at least 10 years.

I don't understand why pastors or bishops that hear complaints and try to cover it up aren't arrested for endangering a child. If laws don't permit that laws should change. (I don't know that it happened here)

The molesting priests are sick perverts and that's why they do it. What is the excuse for those who cover for them?

That's almost the worst of this scandal. Perverts happen and need to be dealt with. I abhor that the church authorities put protecting the church above protecting the children. I hate that. If it happens they should be imprisoned for at least as long as the molester would be.

5. This hurts my heart very much....I know Father Dale...
St. Timothy is a beautiful church devoted to the community, and it hurts to see Father Dale, now Monsignor, accused or arrested for such horrible crimes.

6. No Shit?????
Catholic sexually repressed, supposed to be abstinent, ignore the
prime directive, do not procreate or succumb to any sexual/biological feelings, just believe in fairy tales and ignore your body, priests are actually expressing their frustration? My God! How could they? They should all go to Hell!

My God people. how ignorant is ignorant enough?

This is not the 12th century, no matter what Jerry Foul well says!
