1. He's pretty deep in the koolaid
and pretty ultra-loyal to a guy who couldn't give a lesser damn about what he thinks.

Pointless.

2. "In a liberal secularist’s way of thinking..."
"...Jesus Christ himself would have been better to understand, tolerate and negotiate with those who wanted him dead."

Err... weren't his exact words, "Turn the other cheek?"

17. Well, there ya go
Two bible verses that directly contradict this wingnut's line of thinking. It's really sad when so many so called Christians don't know a damn thing about their own religion, isn't it?

18. The words are twisted by the church
to make whatever point they need to make. There are qualifiers implied, from which prejudice is inferred and accepted. It's a big book, with lots of stories, all of which are adapted to suit the agenda. Sad. Jesus was a liberal, you can't take that away from him.

19. In my opinion
Republicans would have arrested Jesus if he walked the earth today, saying he was spreading communism.

The lies of the letter writer shouldn't be allowed to stand unchallenged.

3. Stomp him
Don't let that pass. Make him look like the fool he is, loudly and publically. If we let these idiots spout their bile without rebuttal, they get their points justified.

4. Oh go ahead!
Why not? And be sure and mention that while we are spending so much money over there we are not made any safer here. We need to remember there was 8 years between the 2 al Qaida attacks here and now we don't even have a functional FEMA. Pretty damn scary!

6. Here's the problem
When you respond to those idiots, you make them real and give them credibility.

Ignore.

The worst thing you can do with these people is to ignore them. Remember that.

8. Waxahachie? Man that's a tough fight
You could fight it, but odds are you'd have no success.

These are serious, delusional people you're dealing with.

I'd concentrate on the politicians, not the wingnut element.

But by all means, respond, let them know that Texas is not ENTIRELY conservative wingnut country. You owe it to your community.

These idiots don't speak for everyone.

He sounds like a seriously troubled man. And he always gives his address out as "Waxahachie... that's abbreviated... Wax.. Texas...."

It always seeemed to me like the place heaven abandoned...

So glad to hear that there's intelligent life there.

9. The author seems to think Iraq was a third world country before us.
Yes, Saddam Hussein was a "vad man" but Iraq has schools and hospitals and museums and little things like running water and electricity before we got there.

The schools and hospitals we've "built" just replace ones we've destroyed.

The bottom line is that Iraq has much BETTER services before we came there. No excuses intended, but Saddam Hussein was like Mussolini...the trains ran on time when he was in power.

10. Perhaps instead of responding directly to him
Why not write a letter directed to the editor only, and perhaps touch on the rationale, and lack thereof, for the war. I'd write about no WMDs, and source it; no Iraq link to terrorists, and source it. By just taking a few points and showing the irrefutable evidence, it just might put a chink in his armor.

The bombs kill Iraqis too. They are indiscriminate and we are targets just like everyone else.

"Meanwhile, those who wish to do the slaughtering there, stand eager to cut the throats of every non-Muslim man, woman and child in this country."

Also, what does this mean:

"Christianity encompasses many absolutes, that liberals fear and feel as a threat to being “open minded” about many issues."

What absolutes? This has to do with the fetus, doesn't it?

15. If you respond, make it short, sweet and to only one point
This being Waxahachie, I'd suggest going after the Jesus point. After all, Jesus' response to those who were actually, actively killing him was "Father, forgive them." When Jesus said love your enemies, I'm pretty sure he meant don't kill them.

Shameful that the Daily Light would publish such in ill-informed letter. Where are the local ministers of the gospel in denouncing such sentiments as anti-Christ?

get away with that. Not saying anything is is like agreeing with that Idiot.
Tear him up with facts and yes call him out by name. I have had many LTTEs published and I never let them lie without calling them on it.
Tear his ass up.

Over the past week, there has been discussion regarding the rationale for our presence in Iraq, and the justification for remaining in Iraq. Some would allude that the war rose from a just and moral cause-weapons of mass destruction, and the threat to use them on the U.S.Details have recently become declassified that reveal that those in the White House were aware that these weapons did not exist. The White House has repeatedly tried to make the connection between Saddam Hussein and Al Qaida. These two organizations were philosophical opposites-Saddam was secular, while Al Qaida is radical Islamic. The likelyhood of their working together was just not there. The intelligence that VP Cheney claimed to have on Mohammed Atta was disproven by the CIA.Weapons inspectors from the United Nations could find No WMDs-the evidence that was presented to Congress was wrong. The source used,Curveball, has been completely discredited by several intelligence agencies, including the CIA.Truth be known,OUR Army is guilty of using chemical weapons,White Phosphorus,on Iraqi citizens. These are simply facts, easy enough to research.I agree, the truth needs to be known. My son's life,as well as all of our soldiers, depends on it.We,the citizens, need to know the real reason we invaded Iraq, why our government dropped the ball, why the Government refuses to arm our troops with body armor and assault vehicles, and why our Government has reduced veteran's benefits, even thought there are a huge number of wounded coming home.I've found that people with nothing to lose (i.e.-Chickenhawks) are very cavalier with our soldiers' lives.
