5. Three sure ways to spook the herd: |
|
"Terror, terror, terror!"
"Your children are not safe ... oh, won't you think of the children!"
"Well, at least you have your health ... or do you!"
Americans are fools.

7. We can multi-task... this is a serious and very alarming article. |
|
I have to say that Scientific American did a good job in researching this.

10. I was listening to Epidemiologist Mike Olsterholm |
|
on Minnesota Public Radio Today. The World opinion is it is too late to do anything but minimize the global impact. He also said it would be physically impossible to increase va cine production to the level needed to vaccinate the U.S. or any other Nation. I've heard it said that even if a Manhattan Project type approach was give to develop and produce vaccines it would still be to little to late. Mr.Olsterholm also said no amount of money could overcome the problem. Read the Article.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Dubya to bird flu: Bring it on!
What better thing to kill scores of troublesome "eaters" and keep the public's mind off the fascism that has overtaken them?
How easy now to declare martial law and give Bush his dictatorship.

as anyone else. Vaccines help but are no guarantee. This likley pandemic will put all Politics aside. It's bigger and nastier than Bush Co.

thus making it susceptible to diseases it might otherwise easily fend off.
Your not doing anybody any favors, here. In fact, you might actually be doing harm to those with impressionable compulsive, obsessive minds.

What does anyone plan to do? Share some ideas. Discuss. There seems to be little one can do to prevent becoming ill with the Bird Flu. So how will we care for loved ones? Prepare for millions of ill people?Handle thousands of bodies? Endure economic hardship? This isn't me asking these questions. It's Public Health Officials.

19. What does fear have to do with it? |
|
There is a potential threat on the horizon; one can research it, do whatever practical things will make one safer and then get on with life.
There is a huge difference between being afraid and being an informed person who takes precautions.
Of course, no amount of precautions guarantee safety, but there is no harm in loading the dice in your favor.
We've all got to die sometime, I might get hit on the head tomorrow by a meteorite for all I know, but I don't go worrying about that either. No need, not with my tinfoil hat to protect me. ;-)

20. As I read some of the above posts about this being nothing but fear |
|
induced hysteria by Bush, I couldn't help but think how terrible Bush is. The reason being that while the rest of the world is taking this possible pandemic seriously, some here now think, since it's Bush, it's all a bunch of fear mongering. If the President happened to be Gore, Kerry or any other reasonable (believed in science) person, these same people would probably care more and look at the science of the flu.
Having said that, Bush has not done enough to prepare the US for this and I can understand where people would think this is Bush using fear. After all, it is his M.O. However, when the rest of the world is concerned, I take notice that this is bigger than Bush.
