Bush deserves no credit for pulling troops out of Iraq. None. |
|
Maybe this time it's for real. Maybe this time some troops really are coming home. Then again, we've seen a lot of these rumors and anonymous quotes about withdrawal pop up over the last 2 1/2 years, only to not materialize. So I'll believe it when the troops are actually on a plane out of Iraq (and once the plane leaves Iraqi air space). If it really is true, that's a good thing. It would make it easier to demand further withdrawals and total abdication of Iraq. Maybe the casualties will drop too. Maybe. I don't know.
But I fear this move will be overblown by our corporate owned media, and all too many stupid Americans, who will just eat up anything this White House put out there like doggie biscuits (here, little dumb American, here for a treat!!). So many people WANT to support the president because it makes them feel patriotic to support what goes down, and they only grudgingly express disapproval after being disappointed many times.
But make no mistake about it. Bush deserves no credit, NONE, for bringing troops home. Even if he brought them all home tomorrow, he would deserve no credit at all. He started this war, he lied America into it, lied about our progress in the war, killed tens of thousands of civilians and 2104 American troops on false pretenses. Crediting him for de-escalating this war would be like thanking an armed robber who broke into your home, took all the jewelery, but left the good china after being begged to do so by the homeowner.
Happy Thanksgiving.

I remember late last yr, there were some rumors that troops might be coming home this year. And like you, I'll believe it when I see it happen. I don't trust anything that comes from this govt anymore and I doubt anyone else does either.
And by now saying that they're bringing troops home, it puts them in a weakened position. Both Bush and Cheney have been saying for years, 'stay the course, stay the course' just like a broken record. And for them now to say that they're bringing troops home, makes them look like the liars they are!! Cheney was saying, as recent as last week, that he didn't agree with the critics of the war, so why would they suddenly decide to change course?
I'll tell you why......because they see the shift in this country. They see the poll numbers that most Americans don't support this war anymore.......and don't ever let someone tell you that Bush doesn't care about polls. He cares all right, he might not admit it but he DOES care!!

Yes, that's definitely true that PRESIDENT Cheney has been attacking his critics. I never heard a word about changing the plans, or any type of conciliatory words.
He was as aggressive as he's always been. He's not planning to bring them home.
But - here's where it gets interesting. They know they have to do something or they will be swept out of power. They have to bring them home, but keep them there to fight their war of choice.
What to do? Maybe send them home, right before the mid-term elections. Look like a Hero, a savior. We did it!!! Then, as soon as the ballots are counted, ship 'em right back again. Like you, I believe NOTHING these guys say.

4. ....and the fact that their poll numbers are so bad |
|
...Republicans are going to start turning away from them if they don't do something to change the policy (if they haven't already).
I think Bush would be too humiliated if that happened.
I agree, they'll probably bring them back before the election and ship them back out immediately after the election.

5. The credit for bringing the troops home... |
|
if it really happens...goes to all of us who are in the 60 to 80 percent that have been speaking out against this administration and its immoral policies. Happy Thanksgiving to one and all, and pray that the troops do come home to families and friends, instead of getting deployed to East Mumf*ck.

8. Bush isn't pulling any troops out of Iraq |
|
This is all a distraction, about as credible as all those terrorist alerts he and Ridge used to call when something politically unpleasant happened.
