1. yes, but only by a Democrat!
If a different Dem can win the primary and election, I would be for that, but only if that is the case.

Defeat Miller Lite. Connecticut need a real Democrat.

13. Why is that? Everyone who's not DLC does nothing but complain ...
Why is everyone so scared to run against him? (Does he keep KKKarl on the payroll for dirty tricks?)

14. Perhaps because he is the most popular Democrat in CT
Being popular among the voters is the strongest insurance against strong challengers running against you.

16. No one can raise a penny to campaign against him.
From either party. He has unlimited fundraising capabilities to crush any opposition, and everyone knows it, so they will not support any opposition.

We need to slay this giant.

We need direction and unity to save our country, and this message would provide both. Victory against him is the only hope I see to begin changing our future. Even impeachment will not save us. These are the same thugs from the Nixon era. They will not stop. They will not police themselves. They must be defeated.

One brave soul is all we need to begin the fight. Someone from Connecticut.

Heads on pikes!!!

5. If it came down to a 51-49 Senate with the Dems in charge
I fully believe in my heart Joementum would jump ship to the Repukes to make it 50-50 giving the Repukes control of the Senate.

7. What then, is his motivation in staying as a Democrat?
As a member of the minority party in the Senate, he cannot become chairman of of committee.

8. If he jumped ship now, he could lose his seat in '06 for no gain
Edited on Tue Nov-29-05 04:11 PM by Walt Starr
The Repukes would give him nothing. Not a single thing, to jump ship now.

If, on the other hand, it meant the difference between being the majority and the minority party in the Senate, he would have his pick of committee chairs.

If he jumped ship now, he'd lose support in Connecticut and could possibly face tough opposition from the Democrats in '06.

10. CT elects a lot of Republicans
The Governor, as well as 3/5 of the House delegation is Republican.

he certainly has the chance to jump ship in 2001 and change the majority. Certainly the GOP would have rewarded that. But he didn't. He stayed a Democrat, and cast the most important vote a Senator can, for majority leader and control of the chamber.

11. HE expected he had a good chance at the Democratic nomination in '04
He no longer has any chance whatsoever of being nominated for the presidency in the Democratic Party.

He's biding his time and will jump should it be a 51-49 split after next year. Mark my words.

including abortion, labor, budget, gay-rights, civil-rights, health, etc....I can't see that happening.

12. Only time and the outcome next year will tell.
I suspect he's been courted pretty heavily since his fiasco of a run at the Democratic nomination in '04.

20. I'm from CT and unfortunately there isn't enough sentiment to dump him.
But we'll work on it. The progressive contingent here hates him but that won't be enough. (R) Jodi Rell will probably be re-elected too. Amazing in a state that is dark blue.

24. No, I'm afraid we don't. He has no redeeming features beyond
being re-elected by mostly white DINOs and the nominal D after his name. He has not passed up one opportunity to screw over the people in favor of his corporate masters. Sure he votes with us on the placebo issues that have no real impact us, but votes in favor of big $ over little people every chance he gets.
With Democrats like him, who needs re:puke:s?

Mad at ALL the democrats that didn't vote for him for pResident in 2004! I guess from the numbers that I saw, that would be just about every democrat in the country he'd be pissed at.

32. I don't know.
Did you see that poll in the WP on Sunday? I would link to it but I'm not at the computer that has my WP password.

It was something like 70% of the country felt that criticism of the war by Democrats hurt troop morale. Even amongst registered Democrats by 55%. 70% also felt the criticism was for merely politcal gain. Maybe ole' Joe is just following the polls.

Search WP for "Sympathetic Vibrations"

Lieberman is a disgrace.

Violence is ok as long as its not in a video game.

What a completely fucked up world we live in.
