Has Any Woman Ever Aspired To Be The First Lady? |
|
I can understand a man or a woman aspiring to be the President. However I don't know that I have ever heard of a woman who's mission in life, as she saw it, was to become First Lady. Was there any such woman or does one exist today?

...seems to me she was the more ambitious one of the two. And being first lady she really ended up running the whole shebang.

She was very active in politics herself, before FDR was elected. She had to scale back her own work and adjust to the expectations of everyone else on what a First Lady should be. I believe she whole-heartedly wanted FDR to be president, but for his sake, certainly not hers.

10. Possibly Hillary. I think both Clintons worked to be in the WH |
|
for many years, which is of course what you need to do to be successful. I think they both worked when they were in the WH, and Hillary realized it was a stepping stone to her own political career.

I think Hillary also had a lot to do with Bill becoming Gov of AR, too. He started out as state Attorney General back in the late 70's if I am not mistaken. I was stationed in Arkansas the summer of 79 on temporary duty, and saw his billboards a lot.
