John Dean : Liar in Chief
It's important to recall that when Richard Nixon resigned, he was about to be impeached by the House of Representatives for misusing the CIA and FBI. After Watergate, all presidents are on notice that manipulating or misusing any agency of the executive branch is a serious abuse of presidential power. <http://hartfordadvocate.com/gbase/News/content?oid=oid:25312>

1. This threw me
Thought you were talking about Howard Dean for a moment--anyway nothing will happen on this till 2005, at which point, I hope we have a new president anyway.

Right now, it would be seen as interupting the electoral process--and every senator would have to vote based on the upcoming election. The easiest solution, from congresses point of view, is to table this issue until after the election.

Plus it doesn't seem like there's a smoking gun yet anyway. This bit about Yellowcake is interesting, and perhaps its waking people up to pay attention to this issue--but it's not enough to convince people who aren't already convinced.

I guess I think our first priority should be focusing on the election rather than rather unlikely impeachment scenarios.

Impeachment Scenarios would be a good name for a band.

3. Yeah...let's focus on a (rigged) electio instead of government corruption.

- Something is wrong with this type of thinking. It says that corruption and high crimes can be put off until later.

- I'm shocked that anyone still thinks there are free elections in the US banana republic.

6. Good response
If the system is so rigged, than what makes you think that we are going to be allowed to impeach President Bush?

At any rate, I choose not to join you in your delusion--yeah there are some questions about aspects of the electoral process--but we are not a banana republic just yet. The election will be largely fair at least from a mechanical side, or else there will be severe reprecussions.

9. Well,
If you think the system is so flawed why bother worrying about the system? Why not find a good book?

I'm not saying we should be vigilant in front of the whole black box story and potential for mischief. I'm just saying that I believe in the system. I believe that if we get a good candidate and he campaigns hard and we do our part to support him, that we can knock George Bush out of office.

Anybody who comes on here and says that the system is so flawed that that can't happen, well part of me wonders what motivates a person to try to demoralize Democratic supporters.

5. From the article:
"Frankly, I hope the WMDs are found, for it will end the matter."

No it will not.
