Bush is Resolved to Defeat Terrorism…He Just Doesn’t Want to Pay the Bill. |
|
Edited on Thu Dec-01-05 02:30 PM by The Whiskey Priest
Just how serious can Bush and the Republicans be in wanting to defeat terrorism when they will not even consider rescinding the tax cuts that are reducing the nation’s ability to pay for that fight. At the moment the only people answering the call of duty to sacrifice are 150,000 troops and their families.
Somehow it would seem that if indeed we are in World War 4, then everyone, the upper class included, would be sacrificing a little towards that fight.
Bush, the Republicans and the upper-class elites are like that friend who always wants to go to the best places to eat and then stiffs you with the bill.

1. Isn't it usually true that when one country occupies another |
|
for a long time, a terrorism campaign against the occupier on the occupier's home soil eventually gets started, and usually lasts as long as the occupation?
So maybe by being assheaded and stubborn about holding onto what we stole in Iraq, Bush does want to defeat terrorism after all, but just not until it's gotten bad enough and costly enough to us here at home that it becomes worthwhile defeating.
I mean who remembers and celebrates triumphs over pipsqueak trivial opponents? Ok bullies do and Republicans do, but all the same. It's only when terrorism has become something pervasive in our lives like inflation was in the 70s, or greed in 80s, that terrorism will finally be big enough to merit an all-out struggle to defeat, and in turn its defeat become worthy of celebrating.
Stay the Course!

2. Figting Terrorism is just a guise... |
|
....it is convenient and concockted means to an end. The neocons want to fight endless wars to extend American dominance and to spend $$$ on the military industrial complex. What a better way to do that than by fighting a perpetual war on terror - against an enemy we keep creating by fighting to begin with.
