for health emergencies.
SCOTUS has always upheld laws that require parental notification laws, and other restrictions placed on women of majority age, as long as there is an exception that allows for emergencies based on life OR health of the mother.
The NH law says a minor must inform her parents if she plans to get an abortion. It allows for a life emergency exception, but not health. This means that a doctor who performs an abortion on a minor to save her from severe organ damage or loss of vision, or similar issues, and does not have time to notify the parents, risks going to jail.
I think it may be a big deal because it is also the first abortion case for Roberts (on SCOTUS).
