Follow up on fundie boycott of American Girls dolls
Doesn't appear this fits LBN, so I'm putting it here.

It appears Rowland Company is doing fine dispite the attempted boycott by the fundie crowd.

The boycott was first discussed here:

1. I was tempted to go out and buy a doll, just on the basis of their boycott

3. I want one just because I've always wanted one!
The fundie boycott was just an added incentive. In fact, the last DU thread on the American Girls dolls inspired me to spend many hours browsing the eBay listings, trying to find one I can afford.

9. I'm happy to say I've already bought some
American Girl things for my little 11 year old niece/friend. A book that explains all those pesky girl problems in a straight-forward manner along with positive body image and self-esteem. And believe me, I would have appreciated that book when I was 11!! I also got her some American Girl accessories. I love Body and Bath.

What I'm sick of is the fundies thinking we give a shit what they think or that they have this right to dictate to others. What a bunch of faux 'Christians.' The churches that support this crap ought to be taxed for political actions.

2. Those people are so off base anyone in their right mind...
won't follow them in this kind of insanity. Boycotting a company because they give donations to a group that teaches girls to get an education and be independant. Perhaps they would rather they focus on something else. Maybe getting pregnant so they can bar them from an abortion. They can't have it both ways.

4. Just heard about the boycott today. Same reaction.

I could have cared less about American Girl dolls until now. Now I am a true blue supporter.
Fundies do not necessarily buy the dolls in the first place so a boycott individually may not have much effect. What they do is threaten businesses that sell the product. Lovely bunch of nut jobs.

6. Vege Tales, but they're boycotting all of the stores so the kids
play with actual vegetables.

7. I bought an American Girl baby doll for my grandbaby for Christmas.
And some clothes, and accessories for it in a little tiny pink trunk. Okay, I went way over the top, but I'm really happy to do it.

8. Great to hear this. I bought 20 of those "I can" bands.
Also, my 9yo's Christmas list is heavily tilted toward AG stuff.

I'm glad the fundies lost this stupid battle. The fundie mom of one of the girls in my daughter's Girl Scout group actually took away all her daughter's AG dolls. What a whackjob.

Because it could have been grown by dirty, socialist, communist, liberal, anti-god, lesbian radicals bent on destroying America.
