...immigration to other countries, particularly English-speaking ones? I've head that it can take up to 5 years to move to Canada. Are those cases rare are is the process slow?

to Canada and easily become a permanent resident. It takes a while to become a citizen of Canada. :kick:

The best place to go!!! Costa Rico is 2nd (IMO) If Venezuela is ever permitted to settle down, that would be 3rd.

you simply go one day, and it is done.
a good way to test the water is to take a university degree in said country. It allows you to establish local cred, understand the culture and place, and connect with the place without jumping straight to marriage (citizenship). There is no rush, canada ain't goin' anywhere.
