Doing my shopping this year at Target.
The American Family Association is boycotting Target, so that is enough of a reason for me to shop there.

I heard this conversation on the other side of my cube a moment ago, and had to look up the site they were referring to. Now mind you, the two conversationalists are both fundie right wing Bushites. Who, support the war, but of course would never enlist or send a family member. My joy is that they share a cube area with a liberal who is even more vocal then I am. He leaves them little news items on their chairs, and hangs sayings on the outside of his cube. Makes them fuming mad some days...haha

Anyway, Target is being boycotted, but Walgreens is on the accepted list for American Family Association.

1. On the other hand, Target allows its pharmacists to decline birth control
dispensing to customers.

2. Shot...
forgot about that when I was typing the post...

You would think American Family would LOVE that!

Guess I am going back online to finish my shopping.

4. Not at my Target
The pharmacy manager told me that she would fire the first one to refuse a legal prescription.

5. If the overall company policy is that pharmacists are allowed to refuse
then I bet the fired pharmacist at your store would be re-instated.

6. In addition . . .
. . . they won't allow the Salvation Army to put donation Santas in front of their stores at Christmas time and (this next part is the one that irritates me the most) . . . they won't ship to APO addresses, which means, they won't ship to our troops overseas.

I regularly shop at Target, including my weekly grocery shopping, but I think I might boycott them during the month of December.

9. You might want to read the whole story about the Salvation Army ban.
Target allows no solicitation in front of its stores. Including Salvation Army.

12. Remember that Salvation Army routinely discriminates against LGBT
individuals.

It's their right as a private organization, of course, and I appreciate Target not giving it special rights (think about it -- if you wanted to collect money in front of any store, for any cause OTHER than the Salvation Army, you'd be kicked out.)

3. Big Box is Evil.
if you must shop at a chain store, make it Costco or Staples.

Mom and pop shops tend to have better stuff, they're not trying to influence policy, and is better for the economy.

Shop where you want, but Target is no innocent victim, here.

11. Another "Blue" chain store is Bed, Bath and Beyond.
Even before I knew this, I managed to do a big part of my Christmas shopping there one year. They have a lot of neat and useful stuff, and there is often a 20% off coupon in the newspaper.

Of course, I hope everyone will try to patronize their locally-owned stores when possible so more of your money stays in your town.

19. I love Bed Bath and Beyond, but REALLY, they are so dang overpriced
we call them Bloodbath and Beyond.

Still, I can wander in there for hours, and usually just refuse to look at the price tag when I want to buy something. DO NOT ask me how much I spent on a complete 250 thread count King size sheets set, duvet cover, two blankets and the appropriate bed skirt and pillow cases/shams when I redid our bedroom last year. DO NOT.

21. OK, I won't! But it's worth the price of a subscription to get their 20%
coupons.

20. yay! I didn't know they were blue!
I love that store!
FYI, I don't know if all BB&B stores do this (I assume it's company policy), but mine will honor its coupons even if they're expired.

8. We were talking about the Target pharmacist issue just last night
I suggest everyone contact them about this.

Anyone who keeps the Salvation Army at bay is OK with me, though. They are homephobes, aside from their religious agenda.

10. Yes. I remember the Salvation Army has very homophobic
policies.

I don't give to them anymore because of it.

15. To be absolutely pure...raise sheep & knit mufflers....
Being sure to use organic dyes! And let the sheep die natural deaths--lamb is tasty but you might offend.

NO corporation that runs pharmacies has announced a nationwide policy stating that all pharmacists will fill all prescriptions. It's best to ask locally.

Stay away from WalMart & have a Happy Whatever!

16. If they are chickenhawks they might have heard

the urban legend that has made the rounds on the WWW that Target doesn't support veterans or veteran's causes. It's not true. See this at Snopes.com

Article: http://www.snopes.com/politics/military/target.asp

And BTW it says in this article that Target donates $2 Million a week to charitable causes. I don't know what causes or what the exact amount might be but $2 Million is nothing to sneeze at.

18. It is quite the hoot some days
I am on the other side of the cube wall from them, so my laughter is not apparent to the fundies. I have only been here since August, so I have been rather quiet, trying to "fit" in. But now that I know the personalities I know what I can and can't say. I don't deal with the fundies often, although after the hurricane and the Brownie - Heck of a job speech I did make some comments about the current administration.

Amazingly they never invite me to lunch! haha

I understand that they are not going to the department Christmas party either, since their will be BOOZE! SHOCKER!!
