1. Pile 'em high!

Grass Bush

Pile the bodies high in Austerlitz and Waterloo Iraq
Shovel them under and let me work--
I am the grass; bush; I cover all.

And pile them high in Gettyburg Baghdad
And pile them high in Ypres and Vedum Mossoul and Al Fallaujah

Two years, ten years, and passengers ask the conductor:
What place is this?

I am the grass bush.
Let me work.

Carl Sandburg

2. When do we get these fallen soldiers' names???
When do we get the official pictures of them in uniform, so we can put faces on this tragedy? Surely, their families have been notified by now. I want this information from my government. I want the loss of these soldiers' lives acknowledged. If Bush is proud of this war, why is he hiding the dead? Why are they not honored, as in wars past?

3. Tsk, tsk. Another PR problem for the warmongers.
Turn on the crocodile tears, wave the flags, and throw in a chorus of "God Bless America". And, of course, yammer about "heroes" who were really scared kids.

7. yep, heroes whose heroic memory must not be dishonored by cuttin & runnin
so we'll send one hundred times fourteen more to keep them company in the ground during the coming year. And more the next year, and more the year after that.

5. My guess is the network TV 'casts will have to mention....

this but it will be carefully sandwiched between two "optimistic" features or buried altogether toward the end of the 'cast. Watch tonite and see.

The politically and philosophically embedded have to keep up their end of this devil's bargain.

6. Well, that's 14 who'll be home for Christmas.
Everyone else can look forward to New Year's Eve, when the giant neon RPG will descend from the sky...
