Oh yeah and his "RADIO SLUT" line he said to Randi.

And how he's a tool for Crap Channel so they can disrupt Air America's line up on so many of their affiliates by keeping Randi from airing LIVE, which CC hates to the CORE.

"Progressive radio" shouldn't be broadcasting someone who parrots the DLC talking points bashing Howard Dean and anything to the left of Lieberman.

81. Randi and Malloy
are talented, but not really representative of voting Democrats. Maybe they have a lot of fans on this forum, but they are both so angry, it's hard for me to sit through an entire show. Malloy especially, his doom and gloom is so over the top. I'd rather listen to my old cure albums and watch the close captions on the sundance channel when they show "Bush's Brain".

I like Randi, although, after a long day at work, I'd rather listen to something relaxing on the drive home. She should be on in the morning.

I don't see how they can be considered an Air America station. The only Air America show they have on there is Thom Hartman's. Unless they haven't changed their website, calling WPTT an Air America station is a stretch.

WPTT is one of the rare stations that was "Progressive" before it was "cool". Sounds like they're dumping the Repugnican shows and going for the real people. WTG Pittsburgh. Again, I hope AAR brings Lynn Cullen on-board

11. They need to get back in Philadelphia
They went off the air in Philly a few months ago. It was a weak signal, and the ratings were bad, but there is no excuse for that, seeing how well John Kerry did in the city and even in the suburbs.

21. I'll second that.
AAR should be on in Philly. My alternative for now is downloading archives of Randi, putting them on a CD and listening to the previous day's show during my commute. It works but I'm listening to old news (3 days old on Mondays) and I'd love to be able to listen to Franken during my lunch hour but I don't think he has archives available. And, while that solution (sort of) works for me, it won't help to bring important viewpoints to a mass audience.

It may be that the bad ratings are frightening away other Philly stations. I think the problem was the weak signal, the lack of publicity, and possibly the demographics of that particular station. IMHO a good strong FM signal, along with a decent advertising campaign, would get an audience in this area. But I'm not a marketing or radio professional so that's strictly an uninformed opinion.

Edited on Sun Dec-04-05 12:59 AM by Itchinjim
I lost the local AAR signal (1270am) about twenty miles outside of Davenport on I80. I then drove ten or twelve hours straight all the way into western Nebraska or eastern Wyoming before I picked up Boulder, Co.'s AAR signal. AAR needs to add stations out west. it's a long, long six hundred miles with nothing but Rush, Sean, and the other RW Bozos spewing their bullshit from the radio (I actually listened to the old ladies's music instead, Alanis! Arrrrgh!). Cities like Des Moines, CR/Iowa City,(Capitan Steve from the old KFMH where are you?) Omaha, Lincoln, Cheyenne, etc. are potentially very big markets. The Midwest/West needs AAR badly.

79. WTAM carries Jerry Springer in the morning
...starting at 9 AM. I don't know about the remainder of the day, because I can't bear to listen to that sucky station, but I know they still carry Limbaugh about noon, and some crazy-stupid neanderthal around 5 (can't remember his name, but GAWD what an embarrassment to C-town). I sure WISH there was a Cleveland station carrying all of Air America.

56. Quick correction.
WHDL is in the Buffalo market, but doesn't reach Buffalo. It's in Olean, NY, and I guess it's going to be targetting St. Bonaventure University.

61. CORRECTION!!!!
It's WHLD, which is in Buffalo, but the night signal might not be much. Original poster got the call letters wrong.

their other station. I wonder if I can pick up their new station here in the Harrisburg area. I had to buy satellite radio to hear them. Being able to get them on the radio would be sweeeeettt.

Just checked they must have lost their Philadelphia station its not listed anymore.

69. But It Doesn't Absolve AAR Firing Marc Maron
That's a boneheaded, small-minded, and tragically wrong move for them -- they should be ashamed.

70. Marc Maron has not been 'Fired'...
.. unless you consider the fact that he is moving back to LA to be with his wife and is devloping another show for AAR to originate out of LA to be "fired".

71. Marc Maron Was Effectively Fired
He wanted to resign when his contract ran out, but AAR Prez Danny Goldberg refused to do so. I direct you to James Wolcott's blog for details.

We'll see if Maron gets that L.A. job or not.

72. The you better tell Rachel that...
Friday morning's show said precisely that Marc's LA bases show was in devlopment and that everyone was looking forward to it.

83. I'll Believe It When I Hear It
Look, I like AAR, but they seriously screwed the pooch on MORNING SEDITION. That was the best pure radio show on the network by far, and by all accounts the only reason it got yanked was because one guy -- Danny Goldberg -- didn't like it. So forgive my total lack of trust right now.
