White House says U.S. is world leader on human rights despite secret-prison reports
By ANNE GEARAN AP Diplomatic Writer

(AP) - WASHINGTON-The White House said Friday that the United States is the world leader on human rights, despite outrage in Europe over reports of secret CIA prisons where terrorism detainees may have been mistreated.

"When it comes to human rights, there is no greater leader than the United States of America, and we show that by holding people accountable when they break the law or violate human rights, and we show that by supporting the advance of freedom and democracy and supporting those in countries that are having their human rights denied or violated, like North Korea," White House press secretary Scott McClellan said.

"We show that by liberating people in Afghanistan and Iraq - some 50 million people. No one has done more when it comes to human rights than the United States of America. I think the American people understand."

8. It doesn't matter, the world knows the truth....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_rights_in_the_United_States

Human rights in the United States

While the human rights record of the United States of America has featured a strong avowed commitment to the protection of specific personal political, religious and other freedoms, it has also had a long history of legally-sanctioned slavery, and both de jure and de facto racial and ethnic-religious discrimination, and occasional violation of those freedoms, particularly in times of "national security" crisis. In the early 21st century, most notably following September 11 and the ensuing War on Terror, invasions of privacy, intrusive inspections, and questionable detentions under the USA PATRIOT Act, as well as allegations of torture at prisons in Iraq, Afghanistan and Guantánamo Bay represent predominant issues.

As with the most developed countries, the government and press attempt to engage in continual public review of alleged human rights abuses, thereby making abuses of human rights in the country more likely to be reported than in countries where the press enjoys fewer rights. Given that the modern concept of human rights developed primarily out of 20th century liberal Western thought, assessments of the United States human rights record often tend to measure its conformity to that political model. Nonetheless, several of the most prominent issues, those arising from the treatment of prisoners in the war on terror, fall under activities least open to public scrutiny due to their national security and military nature.

10. "Mafia says it provides only honest accounting services."
A statement that I would give more validity to than what the White House says.

11. Take a CLOSE look at that statement, by McLiar:
"...we show that by holding people ACCOUNTABLE when they break the law or violate human rights......., bla bla windbag, blowhard, lies, outright lies, etc.

See how he twisted that around? The statement, "Human Rights" usually refers to undeniable rights that we all have as citizens of Planet Earth, certain things we can expect; like the minimum of decency and things like that.

MCLiar, on the other hand, is focusing on obligations, culpability, ways that you can be guilty of violating human rights.

Which is exactly what we do. We Violate human rights.
