Even Rush Limbuagh has asked rhetorically, why can't the Republicans simply come out and be honest about their positions, rather than resorting to deception? At the time, Limbaugh was referring to Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Stephen Breyer being honest about their "liberal" viewpoints in their nomination hearings. And he wondered why the conservatives could not be just as honest about their positions? Why did they have to deceive and pussyfooot around the issues? At the time, I thought Rush had stumbled upon a very important truth but he really wasn't aware of it...
And it continues with every other issue the Republican Party espouses - they have to lie and deceive. It doesn't matter if it is Medicare Reform or Social Security, or the war in Iraq, or the economy, everything has to be doctored in a dishonest way. They could not be honest if their lives depended on it. Why is that?

3. Some are just pathological liars... |
|
... they can't tell the truth if they wanted to. But, let's face it--if the Republican agenda were put out on the table, no frills, no charming names for bills that intend the opposite, etc., they'd never win an election again--even in the conservative states.
Can you imagine George Bush laying out his whole plan for the domination of the Middle East and Central Asia? It would torches and pitchforks time. If Tom DeLay told the public how he actually ran Congress? We'd have our first tarring-and-feathering in over a century. Dick Cheney saying how he planned to usurp control of the government by subterfuge? He'd look like Mussolini after the crowds got hold of him.
Nah, these guys have to lie--otherwise, the government would look like Germany the day after Hitler committed suicide....

5. Lying is the Straussian way. |
|
Other than the usual lying because they're afraid of getting caught, of course. Shrub's not smart enough to understand the theory he's following, let alone put it into practice on his own, so he lies because he's afraid of getting caught (and because his handlers tell him what to say).
His handlers themselves, however, lie because that's the formula for "success" as laid out by the Neocon Lord Strauss. We're just the stupid, easily-led masses to them. (Sadly, up 'til now, they've been right about that.)
That's all I believe it is.

6. I just read the Post and item on Rendition and think------ |
|
It is like the frat boys are running the whole govt. I stayed away from those boys when I was 18 and now they are running the govt. They are just big kids who think it is all fun and can not tell the truth about any thing. It really turns one off on these so called brains we are told we have in the govt. They are so silly but with all that power.
