WorldNutDaily: Fundie Defends Date Rape
Just how hateful is the mind of a Xtian fundamentalist. Well, this should give you an idea.

The morality of rape

But which morality? The Judeo-Christian moral ethic is clear – rape is a sin, a willful pollution of a temple that rightly belongs to God. Neither the Jew nor the Christian need hesitate before asserting the act of rape to be evil and justly holding the rapist accountable. But this ethic does not offer a blanket excuse to victims, near victims and would-be victims either, since the element of consent – which today draws the dividing line between sex and rape – can also provide a contrarian condemnation of the woman's own actions.

<snip>

To put it more clearly, if a woman consents to extramarital sex, she is committing a moral offense which is equal to that committed by the man who engages in consensual sex with her, or by the man who, in the absence of such consent, rapes her. Christianity knows no hierarchy of sins. Since only the woman who is not entertaining the possibility of sex with a man and is subsequently raped can truly be considered a wholly innocent victim under this ethic, it is no wonder that women who insist that internal consent is the sole determining factor of a woman's victimization find traditional Western morality to be inherently distasteful.

1. What is wrong with these people?
This kind of thinking is dangerous and warped. These are the people who think their values are good? Give me a break.

3. they are the same ones who say
that a rape victim can't get pregnant because the "juices" dry up and keep the sperm from impregnating the egg. If they get pregnant, according to this view, it was because they really "wanted" it.

2. And thus the retarded nature of rightist fundamentalism rears its head
Well, there you go:
rape = fornication

This means murder is the same as lying about one's age. Egads, these people are fuct in the head.

It's the sinful women that cause rape.

6. So the crime of
murder would be the same as extramarital sex?

The writer is probably a rapist trying to justify his actions. They are embarrassing themselves.

8. believe it or not, one far-right Catholic tried to convince me that...
... cheating on ones spouse was a worse sin than pressing all the nuclear buttons and obliterating every living thing on earth.

19. That is freaky.
I don't think much of cheating either - but nuking the entire planet? :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke:

I have a little more perspective than that. :silly:

11. No, it's even worse than that.
Note that he's not really arguing this from a criminal standpoint - he specifically states that a man who engages in the *legal* (for now) act of premarital sex is commiting the same sin as the man who commits the *illegal* (for now) act of rape.

By this logic the CRIME of murder is the same as the SIN of lying about one's age. There is, by his logic, no difference.

This is where we're headed in the new theocracy.

17. You're right.

I hate to even give such a person hits on the web site - but it was an odd statement about the atheist morality being "might makes right" - esp. in light of the Machiavellian-loving-immoral-power-mad neo-cons that this person presumably supports.

As if all atheists have a common religion, anyway. He probably wishes they did - so he would know what to argue with. As it is - he just makes assumptions - that sound like projections.

7. Why won't George Bush say these things.
This all reminds me of 1990-1992, when Operation Rescue and the Christian Coalition weirdos were saying their true beliefs, and then they were trounced in 1992, and they were forced into the shadows for a few years. I see the same thing happening.

9. Oh, I get it! It's the woman's fault for saying yes in the first place
to date the man. It's also her faulth that she didn't appear in appropriate clothing at the door with chastity belt outside her tastefully tailored pantsuit complimented by a neutral color of penny loafers; provocative clothing was her choice and the message was come and take me baby!

12. Not quite.
Would that he were only saying a woman who consented to date the man who rapes her is at fault. It's far more insidious than that.

His argument is that a woman who consents to premarital sex with man A has commited a sin. Even if her rapist is man B, she has still commited a sin. Since sin is sin (i.e. there is no scale to weigh different sins), their transgressions are equal in the eyes of God.

His argument has nothing to do with consent to the man who rapes her. It has to do with consent to sex AT ALL. Fucking insidious.

16. Yea, I realize that
He's saying it's a sin but falls short of suggesting that a woman should go to jail for five or ten years because she consented to pre-marital sex. These people keep pounding the table on "moral" and "value" issues making anything they perceive as offensive to be a crime. It's sickening.

The night some never-to-be-found man crawled into an unlocked window of my house, raped me, threatened to kill me, then fled was probably my fault too. No doubt, this guy would be advocating that I be jailed. After all, I had been to a bar earlier that night and was sleeping in the nude.

25. Unfortunately, this view is too common
There was a survey of attitudes toward rape done in the UK recently, which was quite a hot topic on various blogs.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4453820.stm

http://www.amnesty.org.uk/news/press/16618.shtml

What's most disturbing, and quite frankly there's a lot to find disturbing here, is the 8% who believe a woman is TOTALLY responsible for being raped if she had many partners in the PAST!! What do these numbnuts think? That women can give off an "I've been slutty so come rape me" aura? And that it's ok to do so? :banghead:

28. A proper Christian woman would be wearing a skirt don'tchaknow?
and it would have to touch the ground and trail a little in the back so her butt would not be as noticible otherwise she is just a whore who deserves to be raped. /sarcasm.

14. This jerk is kind of popular in the R/W blogosphere
This is typical of his pseudo-intellectual misogyny schtick. Every time it's the same thing: He cherry-picks quotes from writers and philosophers and contrasts them with cherry picked Bible quotes. What the hell is a "Christian Libertarian" anyway? Seems like a contradiction in terms to me.

The passage you highlighted is horrifying. He seems to be suggesting that women bring rape upon themselves with their thoughts. Shades of Orwell there....He's also a proponent of the "Point of no return" theory. That is, once a woman has consented to sex with a man there is no pulling out for her. Even if things go awry. Even if she decides he's creepy or he starts to do something that she doesn't want to do. There was a big discussion of this on several blogs I read recently. It's amazing how many people STILL think it's only rape when a virgin is attacked by a guy jumping out of the bushes. This Vox Day idiot apparently doesn't believe in date rape at all. Yeesh. :scared:

18. I guess
using his sick 'logic'little babies and children who get raped really consented to it and must be blamed for it if their girls.Little boys however already always innocent.

Pigs like this christian creep do not deserve to be listened to at all, they are sick beyond hope, their words are poison and people like this pig ruin every sane sense of social justice with their ethical taint ..a degenerate soulless sociopath projecting his own misogyny..IMHO.

Sometimes I wish it was legal to just kill off these kinds of degenerate abusive, repulsive "true believer" assholes and silence them like they seek to silence the victims of rape.

I hate right wing christianity and it's bullying, morally relativistic, evil hearted, hypocrite ,degenerate, inhuman piece of shit followers..

24. Absolutely
Remember when some of the internal documents about the priest rape scandal came out? In many of the reports, the victims were categorized by others in the church or diocese (such as nuns, other priests, etc.) as acting seductively toward the perpetrator. In one case this seducer of priests was SIX YEARS OLD.

Why not blame rape solely on the man?

(Unless it was a woman committing a rape, of course - and then blame her).

And all Christians are sinners right? He says all sin is equal AND suggests that those who commit sin are somewhat more deserving of rape sooooo......
