Is it time to revisit the first disaster that occurred during Bush's term? |
|
Do you all remember those Texan bigwigs who were getting a private tour inside the Navy sub that surfaced too quickly, capsizing a foreign fish trawler? Can we all now agree that this was the first of a very bad practice from the Bush Administration to entertain and reward Republican campaign donors? Why didn't the media make a bigger stink of that incident because this was thousands of times worse than allowing visits to the Lincoln bedroom; and are those men who had that private tour cronies that deserve closer attention?

1. Because they take all sorts of folks out for rides. |
|
Local politicians, local city officials, family members of the crew, etc.

4. You may be referring to "Boss Lifts" |

where Military types wine and dine local employers in an effort to get them to support their employees who happen to be national guardsmen or reservists. Such evolution often involve military hardware. The goal is to generate conditions conducive to their workers dual citizenship role. I'm not sure if that was the case with the Sub but I doubt anyone in the bush administration gives a rats ass about making conditions conducive for worker bees.

10. No. The people that go most often are family members. |
|
"Dependents" cruises when kids and relatives go out for a day are VERY common. They allieviate fears about what daddy/husband/brother, etc. does and they also prime the recruiting pump.
Politicians get rides all the time. The C-Span people got rides. Robin Roberts of ABC was out for a couple of days.
It's about public relations. All ships do the same thing. Aircraft carriers take out thousands of people at a time.
I've no doubt Democratic political hacks have gone out for rides.

2. It's either that or they get cushy jobs like "Brownie" |
|
Both options are horrible and impeachable.

5. It was also a Nuclear Submarine which is still classified |
|
I doubt those Republican Contributers had security clearance to even be aboard such a sub let alone operate it. Another huge failure by the MSM.

8. Can you imagine how much more alert the Bush Admin might have |
|
been if the MSM had challenged them on this one?
I think it's still worth investigating. Someone should be held accountable for allowing those people on board.

11. They keep certain gauges covered and they usually have their hands... |
|
controlling yours if you are in a driving seat.
So, no, you don't need a clearance. They keep things covered and NO ONE gets aft near the reactor. A lot of navy personnel don't get back there.

I still find it odd how the right-wing were so anti-Chinese during the Clinton era, and how Bush came across with false bravado when they stripped our spy plane; and all the while, Carlyle was working to set up a Chinese foothold for business purposes. Hmmm...
