Jeb won't run in '08, but I don't rule out he will be the VP nominee |
|
Jeb won't run for the nomination, because the Bushies are politically smart enough to know that another Bush in the WH is too soon, they want to space it out a bit. But they want to make sure he's available later on--and the best place would be vice president--especially if the nominee is McCain. McCain would be almost 73 if he won the '08 election and there would probably be a 50-50 chance that he wouldn't run for a second term. If that happens, Jeb would be ready as heir apparent in 2012.
It's an awful thought but I don't rule it out. McCain seems to have made a pact with the devil (embracing the right wing--and W!) and the Bushie's might say that the only way they'll really allow him to get the nomination is a package deal with Jebbie as VP.
