CIA "torture express" aircraft used Polish airport: report
http://www.khaleejtimes.com/DisplayArticle.asp?xfile=data/theworld/2005/December/theworld_December300.xml§ion=theworld&col=

WARSAW - Aircraft linked to the US Central Intelligence Agency made at least five landings at a Polish airport in 2002 and 2003, the daily Gazeta Wyborcza reported on Saturday, quoting witnesses.

But the paper gave no evidence of a secret CIA-run prison in Poland alleged by human rights defenders and denied by Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski.

Quoting an anonymous employee at Szymany airport in the northeastern Masurian region, the daily said a Gulfstream jet had landed there in the second half of December 2002.

Airport staff had been ordered to clear the runway, which was covered with snow, because an “important” flight was expected, the witness said.

1. There were others who rendered people in Poland
and sold their fat for making soap.

2. Torture and terrorism

Given the view that we are not at war, the attack on Iraq was a Rove/Cheney hatched plan and the resolution to middle east problems can be resolved within an international structure like the U.N. rather than Bush's "go-it-alone" policy, the argument against these flights makes sense. However, if, in the future a real threat does emerge in which case you have the choice of A. torturing a prisoner to save the lives of innocents (including perhaps family members) or B. not torturing a prisoner and risking the lives of innocents, and you were the president, what would you do? An interesting question, isn't it?

3. Go for option B
Information from torture is unreliable; torturing people encourages retaliation against your own citizens; and torturing suspects makes your own claims to have an acceptable standard of human rights unbelievable.

4. Actually It isn't all that interesting of a question, it is more of a
no brainer if you ask me. Americans don't torture, period. This fascist regime that stole our country does. It hasn't saved lives, no. Instead it has fueled the rage against us even more and caused our troops irreperable harm and danger due to the irresponsible policy. Those that think choice A even remotely has anything to do with what bushco is doing are severely fact impaired and should turn off faux news permanently and use their time more wisely by scanning DU instead.

5. The gestapo answered that question the same way the CIA has.
As did most of the torturers throughout history. There is no rationale for torture.

6. How do you win a "war" by abandoning your principals? Become
what you hate is winning? Besides the fact that torture only promises to give you an answer to a question, not necessarily the truth - I would rather be killed than to have the planned attack 'thwarted' by someone being tortured. It's called standing up for your values.

I was willing to die in defense of what I believed in when I served in the Army, why should I be expected to do any less now?

Welcome to DU btw
