Krauthammer Says Yes to Legalized Torture
AS the debate over torture intensified earlier this month, Charles Krauthammer hit a nerve.

In a Dec. 5 cover essay in The Weekly Standard, the conservative magazine, Mr. Krauthammer argued that torture is not only defensible in certain very limited circumstances, but in fact morally necessary. "Once you have gone public with a blanket ban on all forms of coercion, it is going to be very difficult to publicly carve out exceptions," Mr. Krauthammer wrote.

Mr. Krauthammer crystallized the case for keeping torture legal in a way that the Bush administration had not, ridiculing the "moral preening" of his critics and taking apart an amendment sponsored by Senator John McCain, point by point, while assailing the administration at the same time.

2. I'd like to see him be the first beneficiary if torture is legalized.
If he thinks it's so great, it would be really great if he were on the recieving end.

3. OK, fine.
But then torture has to be made acceptable for the crimes that I want it made legal for too, like white collar crime.

Then police can drag the white male corporate CEO into a dark room and electrocute his genitals and ass-rape him until he implicates as many people as possible. Or just until he tells them what they want to hear. And if he's not guilty? Eh, whatever.

18. Or perhaps also in cases where our national security was violated.
Like the Plame investigation.

This administration likes torture harsh interrogation techniques so much, believes in their efficacy and is so concerned about our security, what objection could they have to a bit of rigorous questioning of Rove, Libby, Hadley, etc. and even Cheney? Just to make sure that they all are of course cooperating with the investigation to the fullest? After all, they should lead by example, not hide behind fancy lawyers and those uh, quaint and outmoded constitutional rights, due process thingies.

:sarcasm:

5. If he insists...
I suppose I can torture him. Tie him up on a wall, break a few fingers...

This will hurt me more than it hurts him.

nah, it won't.

7. i've wanted krauthammer and his buddies out of usa for awhile now...
since reading his writings in support of eugenics - and proposing that pulling out social supports will eventually "kill off" the less fit, something that the "superior" elite (including himself of course) would have to settle for since Americans just wouldn't stand for the "ultimate solution".

'Course that was 'bout 12-14 years ago. Americans have shown themselves able to tolerate much more than Charlie Boy gave 'em credit for. Maybe New Orleans was first attempt to see how a major "kill off" would fly.

Sorry, I digress. Grrr.

10. He is such a horrible, twisted, evil character right out of some bad
Grisham-type novel. He's an ugly caricature of a human being. He's truly a man without a soul.

What is a Kraut hammer?

Something his forefathers used to beat out confessions with?
